I remember the first time I tried Matcha Green Tea. It was at Disney World, they had a Frozen Matcha Green Tea Latte that I had at the park! At the time, we had spent a few days at the Disney parks, it was hot and needed a nice treat! After that, I had to find out more about Matcha Green Tea! What if you could treat your skin to natural beauty in the tub? It’s time to make homemade Spirulina & Matcha Bath Bombs!

Be sure to store your bath bombs in air tight containers or wrap them in plastic wrap. I like to save my jars with lids, so I can easily utilize them to store my bath bombs in! As always, bath bombs make great gifts too!

Items Need:

baking soda

powdered buttermilk (you can get it at most retailer stores or from Amazon)

arrowroot (I get mine from Amazon)

kaolin clay (You can buy it from Amazon)

dead sea salts (You can buy it from Amazon)

coconut oil (I get mine from Amazon)

cupuacu butter (I get mine from Amazon

clary sage essential oil (I get mine from Amazon

spirulina powder (I get mine from Amazon

Green Tea Matcha powder (I get mine from Amazon

bath bomb molds (I get mine from Amazon)

Spray bottle filled with rubbing alcohol

The number of bath bombs this recipe will make completely depends on which size bath bomb mold you use. For me, it made 1 large, 2 medium and 2 small.

Directions:

Spirulina and Matcha Bath Bombs Steps 1-6

Steps 1-6: In a large mixing bowl, add the baking soda, buttermilk, arrowroot powder (this is an organic and eco-friendly starch), kaolin clay and dead sea salts. Whisk dry ingredients together.

Step 7: Add the coconut oil. This binds all the ingredients together, so you don’t have bath bombs that crumble. You can also use 90% isopropyl alcohol, but I feel the coconut oil holds the mixture together more effectively. 

Step 8: Add the cupuacu butter. This gives your bath bombs more stability and hardens them, so you bath bombs don’t crumble when you touch them. It also is excellent for moisturizing your skin.

Steps 9-11: Add the clary sage essential oil. Mix ingredients thoroughly. You may need to use your hands to break down any lumps and make sure everything is mixed in. The mixture is perfect when it holds together when you press it into your hands and feels like wet sand. Separate mixture into two smaller bowls.

Steps 12-13: Mix in the spirulina powder in one bowl and the green tea Matcha powder in the other until completely incorporated into the mixture.

Step 14: Fill one side of the mold with the spirulina mixture and the other side with the green tea Matcha. You can also layer them in each side. Press molds together and grind to remove excess mixture. Gently tap each side of the mold to release the bombs.

Step 15: Allow to dry a minimum of 24 hours. If your climate is wet or cold, allow an additional 24 hours. My rule of thumb is that when it is hard to the touch, they are ready for the tub! Store in an airtight container until ready for use.

Dried Spirulina & Matcha Bath Bombs

Ingredients
