Dried Orange Peel Bath Bombs

There are times when I want to relax and take a hot bath. I honestly haven’t taken a bath in a long time, but I recently whipped up a batch of bath bombs and just love treating myself! I also wanted to start making bath bombs to add to my son’s bath. He loves baths, but I also wanted to add a fun addition to his bath! Get ready for a refreshing experience with the Dried Orange Peel Bath Bombs!

I remember taking bubble baths as a kid. My son loves bubbles but I think they would irritate his skin!  I like using bath bombs in his bath because I know what is going into making them. Coconut oil is moisturizing and gentle on his skin. I’ve also used coconut oil directly on his skin to keep him moisturized.

Since he can barely stand still long enough for me to apply coconut oil or shea butter, using bath bombs allow me to pamper his skin in his bath!

He loves watching the bath bombs fizz and disappear in his bath. I love using bath bombs as a way to enjoy a hot bath and some quiet time.

Making Dried Orange Peel Bath Bombs can be a fun activity to do with the kids. If they are old enough to follow directions, I think this would be a great activity to try with them. Kids can learn hand and eye coordination, listening skills, explore their creativity, and more! Just have fun!

As for my son, he enjoys watching his mom make bath bombs. Of course, he’s excited when bath time comes around as he knows it’s time to use the Dried Orange Peel Bath Bombs!

Directions:

Dried Orange Peel Bath Bombs Steps 1-3

Steps 1-4: In a large mixing bowl, add the baking soda, buttermilk and cornstarch. Whisk dry ingredients together.

Dried Orange Peel Bath Bombs Step 4

Step 5: Add the coconut oil. This binds all the ingredients together, so your bath bombs don’t crumble when you touch them!

Dried Orange Peel Bath Bombs Steps 5-8

Steps 6-7: Add orange essential oil and orange color. Start with 1-2 drops of color and mix it in. If you want a darker color, add 1-2 more drops and repeat until you get the color you want.

Step 8: Mix ingredients thoroughly. You may need to use your hands to break down any lumps and make sure everything is mixed in. The mixture is perfect when it holds together when you press it into your hands and feels like wet sand.

Dried Orange Peel Bath Bombs Step 9

Step 9: Mix in the dried orange peel.

Dried Orange Peel Bath Bombs Steps 10-13

Steps 10-13: Fill both sides of the mold with the mixture, press molds together and grind to remove excess mixture. Gently tap each side of the mold to release the bombs. To avoid the bombs breaking during the drying phase, I put them in a mini muffin tin. They fit perfectly!

Allow to dry a minimum of 24 hours. If your climate is wet or cold, allow an additional 24 hours. My rule of thumb is that when it is hard to the touch, they are ready for the tub! Store in an airtight container until ready for use.
