My skin, well, sometimes we have a love/hate relationship. My hands especially tend to be dry all the time due to the constant hand washing that I put them through during cleaning, meal prep and just general trying to avoid the spread of germs. And then there’s my face. I’ve been noticing some dry spots developing occasionally over the last year or so. They’re not bad, just a bit of an annoyance. And my long hair has been dry, too. I really think it’s because I don’t drink enough water, but I’m glad to have some beauty products to help out with these issues, as well.
Lately, I’ve been using three really awesome beauty products that are helping me like what I see when I look in the mirror. AHAVA, The Jojoba Company Australia, and Philip B® are most definitely on my “good product” list for the benefits I’ve been enjoying due to using them.
AHAVA is a brand that’s new to me, but I am so excited to have found it! I’ve been wanting to try a new mud mask facial care product for a really long time. I’ve tried a couple before, years ago, but didn’t like that they felt really gritty. I know, it’s mud, it probably should be a little gritty.
But, the AHAVA Dead Sea Essentials® Purifying Mud Mask, while it does have a delightfully muddy scent, is a much smoother product than I anticipated that it would be. It reminded me of all the times as a kid that my siblings and I would play outside and make mud pies or smear it all over our arms, legs, and faces. I’m not sure why we did that, it was just plain fun, I guess.
Who knew I was actually giving myself a mud facial all those years ago? Well, I can tell you that my Mom really did not see the benefits as she bathed four filthy muddy youngsters when she would probably have rather been taking care of something else.
Another thing, I think that the minerals in the mud mask must have some kind of healing potential. I can’t say this for certain, but just after I started using this product, my son thought it would be fun to sneak up and yell, “Boo!” to a cat I was holding. That cat jumped and immediately ran right up and over my face and head to hide behind me on the couch. Of course, I ended up with some scratches on my face, thanks a lot kiddo!
I stopped using the mud mask for a few days because I was worried that it would irritate these scratches. But, after a few days of generally slow healing, I started using it again. And I’m telling you, after the first time using it again I woke up the next morning and I could tell that there had been a major bit of healing to those cat scratches. Like I said, I can’t absolutely contribute it to the mud mask, but I really feel as though it had something to do with the accelerated healing.
A unique blend of purifying Dead Sea Mud, minerals and natural extracts, this mask deeply cleans and detoxifies pores for a fresh, even complexion.
- Absorbs excess oils as it smoothes and hydrates for a radiant complexion.
- Horsetail extract helps to soothe skin with its antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties.
- Jojoba oil helps to nourish and moisturize skin.—–Source: AHAVA website
Another positive aspect is that, unlike mud from the great outdoors that kids smear on themselves, this mud mask doesn’t dry and crack and end up making your face feel all itchy as it starts to dry. I could definitely feel it drying but it stayed elastic so that I could talk and take sips of my sweet iced tea and generally function without thinking about it or being hyper-focused on when I could wash it off of my face.
AHAVA is one of few beauty brands that sources their mud ingredients directly from the Dead Sea. Mud in its natural form retains the purifying power that gives the product such a leg up on the competition, in my opinion. I will definitely continue to use this mud mask for a detoxifying cleanse at least a couple days a week because it’s wonderful to know that the natural ingredients are benefiting my skin!
The Jojoba Company Australia is a company that I am already familiar with as I use a couple of their other products already. I’ve been a fan of this brand for about a year now and am really excited to be using their 100% Natural Absolute Serum now.
Being in my mid-forties, I’m looking toward beauty products that provide age-defying properties. I’m not showing major signs of aging yet, but, well as they say, “Time waits for no man.” Sooner or later, my face will start to exhibit aging signs such as crow’s feet, sagging eyelids and those dreaded lines that connect one’s nose and mouth. I shudder at the thought!
I have noticed already that the skin underneath my eyes, while not baggy or really wrinkled in any way, is starting to get a little less firm. Like, when I smooth eye cream on the area the skin seems to want to drag along with my finger a bit. And it sometimes takes several seconds to move back into place where it should be to look smooth.
This serum is advertised as 100% natural, containing jojoba grown on the company’s own farms. Included in the ingredients list are other anti-aging skin nourishing ingredients such as carnosine peptide and hyaluronic acid. The company claims that use of this product will decrease crow’s feet and frown lines and increase skin firmness after just four weeks of treatment.
While I don’t really have any crow’s feet or frown lines to correct, I will say that the skin under my eyes that seems less elastic than it used to be is not so prone to moving around when I apply my eye cream anymore. And I’ve also noticed that while using it that I haven’t noticed any more of those pesky dry spots of skin that really annoy me.
I thought I’d also share with you the other Jojoba Company Australia products that I’ve been using that I really like. Their Jojoba Bead Facial Cleanser and Hydrating Day Cream are staples in my daily facial care routine. I haven’t tried a product from this company that I don’t like yet!
Dry, damaged hair and scalp problems are something I’ve begun to notice recently, too. I think my hair issues are mostly because my hair is really long, I don’t get it trimmed nearly as often as I should and I don’t really spend much time caring for it. But, Philip B® Rejuvenating Oil uses essential and carrier oils of plants, nuts, and flowers to help address all the dryness and damage that your hair and scalp has going on. It’s ultra light and soaks right in, is Paraben-free and is color & keratin treatment safe.
Don’t suffer from an itchy scalp or try to style around your damaged hair (which is no fun, I can tell you). I’m taking better care of my hair because having nice hair is sort of something I’m known for and I realize that it makes me feel more put together and confident when my hair looks nice. So, for now, Rejuvenating Oil is the thing I’m doing to get a start on that. Very soon, I will be getting around to getting a good haircut, and that will help, too.
What are your hair and skin issues and how are you addressing them?
