Personal wellness is increasingly becoming a hotter topic for many people. Clean eating, essential oils, products made with natural ingredients, decreasing your carbon footprint, eco-friendly manufacturing, solar power, green energy … it can get dizzying trying to keep up with all the newest topics for living healthier.
I like simple, easy. Some may call that lazy, but I think that if something that’s supposed to be healthy stresses me out that’s not worth the trade-off to me. Two simple products that are making a positive impact for me (without adding dreaded stress) are MONQ® Therapeutic Air® Personal Aromatherapy Diffusers and the Guardian Technologies Energy Light.
Aromatherapy diffusers are everywhere, I can’t take two clicks on the internet without seeing something about diffusers or essential oils. I haven’t decided yet whether I’m going to invest in a home diffuser, but I figured that trying MONQ® Personal Aromatherapy Diffusers would be a good way to see if the effects of essential oils would be beneficial enough for me to research further the possibility of adding one or more room diffusers to my home routine.
MONQ® personal diffusers are hand-held devices that contain essential oils. Each blend contains three main essential oils diffused into an organic coconut-based vegetable glycerin base. Each blend indicates three prominent ingredients but includes around a dozen ingredients total. You can see a complete list of ingredients on their product page for each of their blends. All products are organic, natural and free of tobacco, nicotine and artificial chemicals.
This is a great way to add aromatherapy to a busy lifestyle because you can slip them into your purse or pocket and have it handy no matter where your day takes you. Each one is a really pretty color and the end of the diffuser is decorated with a jewel (looks like a little diamond). I love the way they look. Another benefit over room diffusers is that you get the scent straight to your olfactory system without it being mixed with other scents in the air.
Their newest collection features scents found in nature. These new scents mimic the calming effects that can be found by immersion in nature. Forest air has terpenes and phytoncides which are natural fragrances that “reduce stress signals such as elevated blood pressure.” (Source: MONQ®)
The three new blends are: Ocean (eucalyptus, lime, tangerine), Forest (black spruce, douglas fir, sandalwood), and Mountain (juniper leaf, peppermint, scotch pine). The ocean and the mountains are two of my favorite places to be because I feel a sense of serenity and peace that envelope me when I’m in either environment. It’s not just the clean smells of these environments that I love, it’s also the sounds, the silence other than the naturally occurring ones. There are no vehicles, no sirens, no other people talking — it’s just peace and quiet. It centers me in a way I rarely get at home.
There are many scents available that have been formulated to address different health concerns. I’ve been using these four:
- Sleepy – for tranquility and calm (Chamomile, Kava & Lavender)
- Ocean – for adventure and opportunity (Eucalyptus, Lime & Tangerine)
- Vibrant – for energy and insight (Ginger, Lemon & Spearmint)
- Active – for purpose and passion (Bitter Orange, Black Pepper & Sage)
I love these aromatherapy diffusers because they are so pretty and very easy to use. There’s a small hole in one end, you just inhale into your mouth through that little hole, hold it in for a few seconds and then exhale through your nose. It’s recommended to take 2-3 gentle breaths from the diffuser 2-3 times per day and the product should last for 3-4 weeks depending upon personal usage.
My adult daughter latched onto Sleepy right away because she sometimes has trouble getting to sleep. She had heard about the MONQ® aromatherapy diffusers and was excited that I’d gotten some for us to try. She really likes it and I like that it’s an extremely affordable way to help her address her sleep troubles.
I’ve been using the other three depending on what I felt I needed each day. Energy and purpose sometimes seem to be hard to come by. We all get into a daily rut on occasion which can cause us to feel listless and without direction. It’s been great to take a moment, use the diffusers and just let my mind settle and see what of importance surfaces. Because I’m such a beach nut, it has been awesome to close my eyes and take a few puffs from the Ocean diffuser and try to place myself in the sand, looking out over the water until the next beach vacation.
No matter what issues you have to address, there’s a diffuser that is specially blended to help. Check out all the available blends and choose which one you think would help you the most and give them a try. You will not be disappointed.
I should note some restrictions to consider when deciding whether to try this product. According to the company’s website:
Pregnant or nursing women should not use MONQ, and neither should people with asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, acute respiratory infection, or other respiratory diseases. Those with allergies to certain essential oils should consider which blends to use, if any. No adverse reaction is anticipated when used as directed by those without these conditions. —– MONQ website
As much as our sense of smell affects our well-being, so does our sight. Every year lately it seems that winter time and the lower levels of light seem to affect me more and more. It’s not so bad when it snows because the available sunlight reflects off of that white fluffy stuff and makes the world look a little brighter. Unfortunately, where I live is far enough south that snowfall in the winter time isn’t guaranteed, it’s the exception rather than the rule.
That’s where the SPA50CA 10,000 LUX* Full Spectrum Portable Energy Light by PureGuardian is going to come into play to help me out next winter. I’ve been turning this light on in the morning and sitting in front of it for about ten minutes to see how I feel after using it for a couple of weeks.
You can choose the intensity of blue light or white light, whichever you feel does the most good for you. With timer settings ranging from 5-30 minutes, it’s pretty easy to set it, sit down near it and forget about it. It turns off automatically when time’s up, too. Which is good for me, because I’m not the best judge when it comes to the passage of time if I’m not looking at a clock.
It’s really easy to work this into my morning routine because I like to wake up about 15-20 minutes before I have to get the kids up for school. I need that alone time to wake up because I’m not very verbally communicative right after crawling out of bed early in the morning. With this small amount of time, I can make a cup of coffee and either check my email, read a book, or watch some morning news and just ease into the day before getting the kids up to do their morning chore and to get ready for school.
The unit is very light, weighing only two pounds. And the stand folds against the unit, too, which makes this a great item to take along with you if you like to travel or want to take it to the office with you for a little lunch time therapy. Even the packaging is slim, so you can tuck the box into your suitcase or just tuck the unit itself in between your clothes to protect it from damage.
On the rear of the unit, where the plug adapter port is there is also a USB port so that you can charge a device such as a cell phone or tablet while using it. They thought of everything! Except for speakers, because you know, tunes. But, seriously, it’s a really great device and I’m really enjoying the effects I’m seeing while using it.
I’ve been using it most mornings for several weeks now. Even though it’s not winter and there is spring sunlight, we have had quite a few rainy overcast days recently with cold breezes that have kept me inside. Even though I was bummed about not being able to be outside in the warm sunshine, it was great to have this appliance sitting next to me giving me the light that I need.
As if it needed more great features, there’s one I must mention. Whereas the sun’s rays can cause skin damage if you forget your sunscreen, this spa light is completely UV-free. Get the light exposure your body needs with no worry about skin damage. No sunscreen needed!
So here’s a quick rundown on the features of this SPA light unit:
- -Bright light exposure of up to 10,000 LUX* can help improve your mood, focus and energy levels.
- -Full spectrum white or blue, UV free light, naturally help beat the winter blues.
- -Customize your session of light intensity, blue or white light color, and 5 to 30 minute timer.
- -Compact size with adjustable tilt for easy use and includes a convenient USB to charge your phone. Portable enough to take to the office.
- -LED Technology eliminates the need to buy or change light bulbs.
- -1 year warranty —– Source: Guardian Technologies
I’m down to try new things, always, especially if they can make life easier and better. MONQ® personal aromatherapy diffusers and the SPA50CA 10,000 LUX* Full Spectrum Portable Energy Light are keepers in my book. I just think they are really cool products and I’m really glad to have them.
