Most people like to start off the new year by making resolutions. I like to start it off by sleeping in and maybe watching football. Yes, I am one of those people who doesn’t believe in New Year’s Resolutions. What I do resolve to do, and practice quite often, is to revive and refresh my beauty routine.
I don’t know if it’s my curious nature or being a blogger, but I’m constantly searching for new things to try. It helps keep my routine fresh. It also keeps my skin and hair from not getting too used to a product and rendering ineffective. This time I’m doing some reviving and refreshing with Malin+Goetz, DDF, and Conair.
Malin+Goetz makes one of my favorite lip balms. I keep a tube of their Mojito balm on my nightstand and reach for it often. I’ve been wanting to try more of their products and was excited to test out the Malin+Goetz Lime Bar Soap.
What I like most about this soap is it’s free of parabens, made from the purest of ingredients, and isn’t tested on animals. I also love the refreshing lime scent and deep foaming action, which helps get my skin nice and clean. It doesn’t irritate my skin or leave it feeling stripped of moisture. Instead, I always feel extremely hydrated and refreshed after my shower.
Next up on the reviving and refreshing of my beauty routine is the DDF Ultra-Lite Oil-Free Moisturizing Dew. Designed for sensitive skin, this light moisturizer is free from oil, fragrance, and dyes. This makes it ideal for all skin types, even acne prone skin. While I don’t have issues with acne I do have issues with sensitivity. The DDF Ultra-Lite Moisturizing does a great job of hydrating my skin with ingredients like aloe vera, grapeseed, and vitamins A, E, and C.
I took the moisturizer with me on a recent trip to Atlanta and it helped my skin retain moisture during the cold and rainy weather I experienced. My makeup applied perfectly and my dry skin didn’t itch at all, which tends to happen during the dry months. Too bad it couldn’t protect me from catching my niece’s Bubonic plague of a cold. I do wish DDF was a cruelty-free brand because their products work so well.
Finally, let’s talk about hair styling tools. In my search for the perfect round brush, I’ve tried many over the years. I never can understand how they work so well at the salon and so horribly at home. With the Conair Ultra Detangler Round Brush, I no longer have that problem.
Because it’s designed to work with wet or dry hair, I find it doesn’t pull on my hair or snag it. I’m able to achieve the volume I desire without also turning my hair into a giant frizz ball. The wood handle is sturdy and gives the brush a nice feel in my hand. My only complaint is with the quality of the bristles. The little white knobs at the end come off easily whenever I try to clean the brush. It’s not a huge problem, but I do wonder what this will mean for the longevity of the brush. Guess I will have to wait and see.
