There are many reasons that our hair may become damaged. Regardless of the reason, whether it’s being out in the hot summer weather, exposure to chlorinated pool water, due to coloring hair with dyes, or any other factor Umberto® Beverly Hills has a great product that I’ve just discovered to help repair that damage.
Their Repair Shampoo, Conditioner, and Repair Treatment Masque system is helping me to rehab my dry damaged hair. Incorporating their Roman Oil Serum into my hair styling routine has also helped tame flyaways and further nourish my hair in a way that has helped me to like what I see when I look in the mirror.
Being a mom, I’m always doing things for my kids to provide them with what they need and my own self-care often falls by the wayside. Being that I’m approaching my mid-40s I have noticed gray hairs popping up — eek! That, along with rarely taking the time (or the money) to get regular haircuts is really taking a toll on how I feel about how I look.
One of these days I’ll have to break down and get a cut and color to get rid of the grays and split ends that mock me every day. But until then, Umberto® Beverly Hills is helping me to do what I can to try to put my best look forward by nourishing my hair while cleansing and styling.
One tip that Umberto® Beverly Hills offers is not to over shampoo. Not exactly earth-shattering news, most of us have heard this advice from our hair stylists. But, it is a tip definitely worth taking seriously.
Over-shampooing strips hair of its natural oils, which work to prevent dry hair, flyaways, and static as well as protecting the hair shaft from damage not only from environmental factors but from styling tools and products, as well. Shampooing every day can be damaging, so you should only wash your hair every other day to help keep it healthy.
One tip I had not heard of before was to avoid using very hot water to shampoo and to concentrate shampooing on the scalp. I don’t generally take very hot baths and I do focus on the scalp but I didn’t realize that this was considered best practice. Go figure.
I love that this shampoo and conditioner set is sulfate-free and contains Sea Silk (a Marine-Derived Extract) which can help to strengthen hair and repair damage. Also found in the ingredients for this product are Sunflower Seed extract, Vitamin E and a jojoba protein. In addition to repairing damage (even in chemically-treated hair) it can help keep color from fading and extend the effects of Keratin treatments.
When it comes to conditioning, Umberto® recommends using a paper towel to reduce the amount of water in your hair before conditioning as it will help the conditioner penetrate better. Then rinse with cool water to help seal in moisture and shine.
I don’t keep paper towels in the bathroom, but I do let a minute or two pass while washing other body parts and then lightly run my hands over my head to remove excess water before applying conditioner.
I’m not sure how I feel about keep paper towels in the bathroom, but it might make sense to me to have a washcloth on the side of the tub for this purpose. I will have to give it a try and see how it works for me.
I keep hearing about the benefits of hair repair masques lately, so I was excited to try out the Umberto® Beverly Hills Repair Treatment Masque for added hair repair benefits. It’s recommended to add this product to your hair care routine once a week. I have now used this repair masque twice and can already see that my hair is looking more nourished and less dry and damaged-looking, particularly when it comes to the split ends I’ve noticed developing recently.
It’s pretty easy to use, too. I was concerned that it would be something that would be hard to use as it’s much thicker than shampoo or conditioner and that I wouldn’t get it rinsed out of my hair thoroughly enough. Also, you are directed to leave it on for 10-20 minutes. That sounded like forever to me as I’m not the type of person to take long baths. I put it in my hair and then shave my legs and use my pumice stone on my feet to keep them looking great while waiting to rinse it out. So, all in all, I really do like it and it’s been a great addition to my routine!
Oily hair products have historically caused me to panic a little bit. I remember trying out that old trick of using mayonnaise to condition hair and add shine and just ending up with super oily, totally flat and gross-looking hair when I was a teen. But, I decided to go all in with the Umberto® hair care system and give their Roman Oil Serum a try.
It is an oil, but it’s very light in texture and when applied to damp hair really does soak right in. It has provided my hair with a more moisturized feel, added shine and helped smooth flyaways. You can also apply a small amount to dry hair to add more shine, too.
So, these before and after photos may not appear to show a huge difference. But, I can tell the difference in how much softer and more manageable my hair feels. I will continue using the products because I really like how my hair feels even better every time I use them.
I still need a good haircut and a color with partial highlights to cover those grays, but until I can make the time to get to that, Umberto® is my secret weapon for more beautiful looking hair.
