Even though summer is over, protecting my skin from the elements continues. I always start my skincare/makeup routine with a good moisturizer and some SPF, like the new Coola Mineral Face SPF 30 Rosilliance. If I’m not using an SPF-based foundation or want additional protection, I can finish my routine with the Coola Face SPF 30 Makeup Setting Spray.
I’ve been a huge fan of Coola since the first time I sampled their sunscreens through Birchbox. I love that their products are cruelty-free, made from over 70% certified organic ingredients, and don’t contain parabens, petroleum, PABA, or phthalates. I also recently discovered Coola donates to Healthy Child Healthy World and the Melanoma Research Alliance, which makes me love the brand even more.
But enough gushing, let’s get into my thoughts on the Rosilliance and Setting Spray. While I had sampled the Face SPF 30 Makeup Setting Spray before, the Coola Mineral Face SPF 30 Rosilliance was new to me.
The first thing I noticed about the product was the sleek, glass bottle. It makes this organic BB+ cream feel very lux. I also appreciate the pump on the bottle. This makes dispensing the right amount of product much easier, which for me is about two pumps.
Unlike most BB creams, the Rosilliance features very light coverage. I would say it’s more of tinted moisturized than a BB cream. In fact, it blends into the skin like a moisturizer does, which is probably due to ingredients like Rose Stem Cells. I really like how light it feels on my skin and how luminous my sensitive, dry skin looks each time I wear it. My skin also feels amazingly hydrated and protected.
The Rosilliance is great for everyday wear if you are looking for light coverage. It’s probably most ideal for no makeup days when you simply want some SPF protection and to even out your skin tone. It comes in two shades, Light-Medium and Medium-Dark. It’s also vegan, cruelty-free, water resistant (80 minutes), made from 70% Certified Organic Ingredients, Plant Stem Cell Protection, and features a very light sweet rose scent.
As I mentioned above, I had sampled the Coola Face SPF 30 Makeup Setting Spray once before and really liked it. (Coola was actually the first brand to come out with a 70%+ certified organic setting spray.) I admit, sometimes I forget to put on sunscreen, especially since most of my foundations already contain SPF. I like having the option of using a setting spray that not only benefits my makeup and skin, but also protects my pale skin from the sun.
The spray is lightweight and delivers a matte finish. It is formulated with Cucumber, Aloe Vera Extract, and Hyaluronic Acid, which I found to really help soothe and hydrate my dry skin. While it does have a strong sunscreen smell, which I kind of like, it doesn’t linger once it is on your skin. Instead, it’s replaced with a soothing and calming Aloe Vera and Green Tea scent.
Although I really liked the setting spray, I did have a slight reaction to it, especially when I wore it in combination with the Rosilliance. This is not to say there is anything wrong with either product. This is just something that happens with my extremely sensitive skin. I’m probably one of the few people out there who can have a reaction to very natural products. Occasionally, they will cause a few minor breakouts or a flare-up of my mild Rosacea. As soon as I stopped wearing the two together, my skin was fine. So for me, I probably can’t use this Setting Spray every day, unless I pair it with a foundation free of SPF or don’t apply SPF first.
Have you tried the Rosilliance or Setting Spray? What is your favorite Coola product?
