The beautiful Moana is sweeping the nation with her beauty, heart, and determination to save her people. I was lucky enough to be given a copy to review and I must tell you it’s one of the best Disney movies I have seen in a very long time! The music from the movie is beautifully written and extremely catchy.
My girls absolutely squealed with joy when we got the movie from the mailman and insisted I put it on right away. We settled down on the couch to enjoy the movie, and it was great. The first thing I noticed was the beautifully colored artwork. The bright beautiful colors of the sea draws you in.
I was highly impressed with the introduction of the Polynesian culture into the movie. Newcomer Auli‘i Cravalho was wonderful as the voice of Moana and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as the larger-than-life demigod Maui bringing their characters to life.
My favorite quote from the movie was “ When you use a bird to write it’s called Tweeting.” Says by the grinning Maui.
Be sure to watch out for some super fun easter eggs in the movie. Psst (Look for Sven)
When I asked my 5 year old daughter what she liked best about the movie she replied, “ My favorite part was when he got his hook back and could turn into animals.” My 3 year old loved the adorable chicken HeiHei.
To me the best part is that Moana learned that she was chosen for a reason, to accept and embrace that. Be true to yourself when it feels everyone is against you. Your heart, like the heart of Te Feti will never lead you astray.
I also love the absolute beauty of the Goddess Te Fiti. Her artwork was just stunning. You could see and feel the love she had for her earth and the love she has for Moana for saving her.
Oh Disney sure knows how to pull the feels out!
The film earned a 95% critics’ consensus on Rotten Tomatoes and the No. 1 spot at the domestic box office opening weekend.
All in all one of the best movies I’ll seen lately. A great movie for the whole family to come together and spend quality time with each other. Learning the lesson, be true to yourself and your heart.
Now, Moana sets a new course, sailing home on Digital HD/3D and Disney Movies Anywhere (DMA) on Feb. 21, and on Blu-ray 3D™, Blu-ray, DVD and On-Demand on March 7.
