When it comes to any oils–including the automotive sort–I’m a bit of an amateur, and beauty oils are a different category altogether. When I first learned that facial oils were the ‘new thing’, I was just as confused as every other average girl. Wasn’t oily skin and hair the bane of our existence? I had also never used a single Josie Maran product in my life and didn’t know anyone else who used it either, so I approached Josie Maran’s Argan Oil Light with a bit of trepidation –trepidation that was quickly removed!
I’m becoming a bit of a purist when it comes to makeup (and have been gradually trying to hone my cosmetics down to a cruelty-free and vegan collection) so learning about argan oil’s all-natural status was a pleasant surprise. The real surprise, however, was the oil’s feeling on my face and hands (I used it in the morning and at night, and did not use it on my hair or feet). I expected oil to feel greasy and leave some kind of residue behind; this moisturizing oil did not! Josie Maran has labeled this product as an “ultra-lightweight” one, and I completely agree; in fact, I’m tempted to reapply it more often, just because it’s so light. The product also does not seem to have any real taste and just the faintest of smells–both of which are nice perks.
For a beauty oil ‘novice’, this product was a very nice treat. I have pretty sensitive skin, and the oil was just as gentle as advertised. As for its moisturizing capabilities, I think that my nightly application onto my hands has been making a difference, little by little! One of the best things about argan oil is its efficiency; I only used a couple of drops for my face, and it went a long way (try to avoid putting it on your eyes, though). And the piece de resistance is the packaging. Josie Maran’s Argan Oil Light comes in a medium-sized bottle–large enough to fill the average person’s entire palm, but not much bigger than that. The bottle is not particularly heavy and could certainly fit in luggage or a tote bag (although it would most likely create a mess if the top wasn’t tightly closed, so I would not recommend traveling with it)! The bottle is also equipped with a dropper. One squeeze can–and does–draw out plenty of oil for your hands, and two squeezes will draw out enough for you to rub on your face.
Overall, Josie Maran’s Argan Oil Light is a great beauty oil for anyone who wants to keep it simple. Only a little oil is needed for your entire face, so the whole bottle will last a while, and it really doesn’t leave behind an uncomfortable layer of grease!
Personally, my favorite part is the bottle. There’s just no way to use a vial like this without feeling like an intense scientist–or Yzma from The Emperor’s New Groove. Both are fine with me. Are you ready to get on the beauty oil bandwagon?
