The Reckoning
By Alma Katsu

About the book:

THE RECKONING spans the two hundred years since Lanore’s betrayal of Adair, the man who gifted (or cursed) her with immortality, as she is embarking on a new life with Luke, the kindhearted Maine doctor who helped her escape from the police in The Taker. While living abroad out of harm’s way, Lanny perceives a familiar sensation—a constant hum in the back of her head. Adair is free.

As Adair crashes into the twenty-first century seeking Lanny to exact revenge for her heartless betrayal, THE RECKONING will keep readers on edge as the hunt ensues and Lanny tries to evade her seemingly-inevitable fate.

My Review:

The Reckoning is an exciting read between Lanore and Adair figuring out their way.  Adair escapes his prison and is determined to seek revenge on Lanore.  He seeks to find her.  During his journey he discovers his true feelings for Lanore.  As soon as Adair is free, Lanore can feel his presence.  She leaves Luke behind to keep him safe from Adair’s wrath.

With 200 years gone, Adair must rebuild himself and his fortune.  He turns to the first person he can find to help him get started.

Lanore is on her own mission to stay safely hidden from Adair.  She turns to her old friend from her previous life during her stay with Adair.  Both Lanore and Adair discover their feelings and find out who they can depend on.

The Reckoning will have you on the edge of your seat as the pages are dripping with mystery and suspense.  This book will test desires of the characters as well as yourself.  How far would you go for love?  Revenge?  Escape?
