Find Your Signature Fragrance

Find Your Signature Fragrance with A.N. Other

When I think about all the perfumes I’ve worn over the years, only a few stand out in my memory. Some because of their iconic bottles and others for their iconic scent. I still have my mom’s last perfume bottle. Each time I smell her signature fragrance, it’s like she’s right there with me again. For me, perfumes provide one of those unique sensory experiences that go beyond smell. It’s like hearing your favorite song and remembering exactly where you were the very first time it came on the radio.

A.N Other – perfume reimagined

Recently, I was introduced to an incredible fragrance company known as A.N Other. The brand has a unique concept for how their perfumes are produced. They believe luxury can be accomplished without the “name, mood, gender, designer labels, and inflated price tags.”

A.N. Other Signature Fragrance - WD18 perfumer

To accomplish this, A.N Other gives perfumers complete freedom to create their own signature fragrance. The company invests in eco-friendly, ethically sourced ingredients, which means no animal products, dyes, preservatives or toxins are used at any time during production. And because the perfumes are sold directly to the consumer, A.N. Other is able to keep the costs down, which means you aren’t paying ridiculous mark-ups.

Your signature fragrance

A.N Other was kind enough to offer me a chance to try out their scents. I had the hardest time choosing between Oriental, Floral, Fresh, and Woody, so I asked them to surprise me. They sent me a bottle of WD/18 (Woody) created by Patricia Bilodeau, along with a few samples of the other three fragrances.

Find Your Signature Fragrance - A.N. Other Woody 18

What I like most about Woody is that is a unisex scent. It can be worn by both men and women. Although I don’t know if I would want to share my simple, yet elegant bottle with anyone else.

Perfumer Patricia Bilodeau, the creator of Jo Malone Red Roses, drew inspiration for her WD/18 from a piece of driftwood floating between the East and Hudson Rivers in New York City. She wanted to recreate the experience of seeing the sun setting upon this weathered piece of wood. I would say she captured the moment perfectly. WD/18 is rich, but also light. Musky, but also fruity.

WD/18 is a complex fragrance filled with:

  • Top Notes – pear sparkle, cardamom spice and violet leaves
  • Heart – rich orris, cypress and amyris
  • Base – sandalwood, blonde cedar and vetiver Madagascar

A.N. Other Signature Fragrances -2018

I truly enjoy this new signature fragrance, whether on its own or layered with other A.N Other scents. As I mentioned above, the brand was also kind enough to send me their sample collection. This allowed me to try out all four of the 2018 fragrances.

FR/18 – Fresh by Carlos Vinals

  • Top Notes – melon pop rocks, grapefruit zest, and gin & tonic
  • Heart – juniper, Madagascar ginger, and aromatic lavender
  • Base – chilled amberwood and metallic musk

OR/18 – Oriental created by David Apel

  • Top Notes – blood orange, star anise, and lemon sugar
  • Heart – cannabis accord, myrrh, and night blooming jasmine
  • Base – vanilla crème, tonka, and driftwood

FL/18 – Floral created by Nathalie Benareau

  • Top Notes – cotton candy, elemi, and saffron
  • Heart – Brazilian mate, night blooming jasmine, and ambrette
  • Base – aged leather, cashmere musk, labdanum, and amberwood

I must admit, I want all four A.N Other perfumes to be my signature fragrance for this year and beyond. I’m trying to decide which one I want to add to my collection next. If you’re looking for a great holiday gift for someone on your list, even if that is yourself, I highly recommend A.N Other. Pick up a bottle or two or order their sample collection to see which one will become your signature fragrance. You can apply the $10 cost to a full-size bottle purchase.

What’s your signature fragrance? Are you a woody, floral, fresh or oriental?
