It’s the time of the year again, the kids are back to school and life begins to calm down a bit. My whole family begins to fall into a routine, and soon enough, our household starts to run like a well-oiled machine…. [read more]
Everyone wants to live a long, healthy life. And most of us wish we could do more to help the environment, as well. There’s seems to be almost too much information floating around about these issues. It can be downright daunting to make decisions about what we can easily and effectively do to better the health of our bodies and the world around us at the same time.
You could look at this from a glass half-full perspective and decide that there’s way too much information for you to ever adequately process it and make a truly informed decision. But, I propose a much more radical response. Take a step back and look at it from a glass half-full perspective.
Yes, there is tons of information available about how to live healthier lives and take better care of our bodies, homes, and the natural world all around us. The good news is that you don’t have to read or learn all of it to make a positive impact!… [read more]

Personal care is important, not because it’s trendy but because we all are worth caring for, all of the time. In the hustle and bustle of daily life with all the exterior demands on our time and attention that being a woman entails it can be very easy to forget that. We often put everything and everyone else above ourselves in terms of importance, don’t we? Especially women, who care for everyone else — their parents, spouses, children, and friends — before giving their own needs more than a passing thought.
I’m certainly guilty of this passive and unthinking form of self-neglect at times. I mean, I apply sunscreen if I’m going to be out in the sun for long enough that I might get a sunburn. I apply lotion to my hands and arms pretty regularly. Though that’s mostly because my hands can get pretty rough from constantly washing them as I go through the average day during cleaning, meal prep, and caring for our various animals. I can’t even remember the last time I treated myself to something as simple as a hair cut, it’s probably been a year or more I’m sure.
There are a lot of different kinds of personal care products on the market to choose from. Products that address areas from skin care to hair care, internal health to physical fitness. Some are clearly better than others, but a large majority of what’s available is all very good and it can be a difficult task to weed through all of the advertising and information to make a choice about which brands to use.
The easiest area of personal care to address, I think, is taking care of one’s exterior, what others see when they look at us. That being our skin and hair. I mean, we all bathe and at least occasionally use nourishing bath products and perhaps apply body lotion afterward. These areas are where I’ve tried quite a few different products to support skin and hair care.
So, today I will be sharing the three most recent brands that I’ve been using and my thoughts on them. Since there are so many brands to choose from, it’s sometimes fun to share those that you might not find on the shelves of every pharmacy or mass merchandise retailer. Don’t you think?
And since I especially like trying new natural/organic products for personal care those will be what I share with you today. Brands you may not have heard of before like NaturaBrasil, Shira Esthetics, and NatureLab Tokyo. I hope you enjoy your introduction to these brands of skin and hair care and that you put yourself first and decide to try one (or more) of them for yourself. You deserve it!… [read more]

There are some ingredients and scents that irritate certain people’s nostrils–and, when involved in skincare products or lotions, those pungent or sickly-sweet scents can often get all the more overpowering. Meet Tree Hut’s Moroccan Rose Collection–one of the only skincare collections that I’ve ever found to smell both subtle and (no exaggeration) delicious!
Personal wellness is increasingly becoming a hotter topic for many people. Clean eating, essential oils, products made with natural ingredients, decreasing your carbon footprint, eco-friendly manufacturing, solar power, green energy … it can get dizzying trying to keep up with all the newest topics for living healthier.
I like simple, easy. Some may call that lazy, but I think that if something that’s supposed to be healthy stresses me out that’s not worth the trade-off to me. Two simple products that are making a positive impact for me (without adding dreaded stress) are MONQ® Therapeutic Air® Personal Aromatherapy Diffusers and the Guardian Technologies Energy Light…. For me, a bath has always been a time for luxury, decadence, and relaxation. It’s a time to soak, to reflect, and to absorb–something that becomes all the more relevant when said bath water has extra benefits and ingredients within it! Bath salts are one particularly lovely way to enhance your bathing experience, and the Florida-based company Spice Labs has (among other things) an entire plethora of pure and beneficial salts, packaged in large and beautiful bottles to boot!
