Become a Natural Deodorant Overachiever

Beauty Brite Disclosure

I can’t remember the last time I used regular deodorant or antiperspirant.  It’s been at least six years, if not more. I chose to make the switch to natural deodorant for two reasons. The first being health and the second because the deodorants I was using weren’t working.

Making the Natural Deodorant Switch

I’m not sure how or why, but my regular antiperspirants began to fail me. They didn’t stop odor. In fact, they seemed to make my armpits smell worse. It was the strangest thing. I would put on deodorant and within about 10 minutes I stunk. This is what initially sent me on a hunt for something different. I thought natural deodorants, with their cleaner ingredient list, might not cause the same reaction.

Additionally, like most people, I’d also began to hear whisperings about the possibility of aluminum in antiperspirants causing breast cancer, and possibly Alzheimer’s. Of course, this concerned me. While studies have shown there is no scientific link between antiperspirants and breast cancer, I still prefer to use more natural products underneath my arms.

Becoming an Overachiever

Type:A. Natural Deodorant Tubes

Since making the switch, I’ve become slightly obsessed with trying out almost every natural deodorant available. From the drugstore to online, I get a thrill out of putting these products to the test. Some of my trials are successful, some not so much.

One of the most important things I’ve learned from all this trial and error is to rotate my natural deodorants. For me, this means having at least two products open at a time and wearing them on different days. It might sound silly, but it really does help ensure I’m getting the odor protection I need and want.

One of the newest deodorants in my rotation comes from Type:A.. After seeing the brand pop up in my Instagram feed, I was even more excited to have them offer up their products for review.

Type:A. Deodorant

I was intrigued by the Type:A. name, sweat-activated technology, and packaging. It is available in two scents, Visionary, a crisp, clean citrus blend with herbal notes, and The Minimalist, which is fragrance and essential oil-free. Unlike most natural deodorants, which come in a jar or stick, Type:A. comes in a squeezy tube.

The tube makes application of their patent-pending formula easy and less messy to apply. I just squeeze the tube until the product comes out, then swipe it on my underarms, and I’m good to go all day. But the packaging isn’t the only Type:A. attribute that works for me.

I also find their formula to be non-irritating, long-lasting, and clothing friendly. In other words, while it’s preventing my pits from stinking, it doesn’t stain my clothes. It’s exactly what I want out of my deodorant.

Did I also mention it’s sweat activated? If you’ve ever used a natural deodorant, you know they may prevent odor but fall short on sweat prevention. Of course, this is because they lack the sweat-reducing aluminum found in antiperspirants. Type:A. was specifically designed to activate whenever wetness appears. This means you stay dry and odor free.

And just when you think this deodorant couldn’t get any better…you’ll also discover it’s also Cruelty-free and made in the USA. (They do use Beeswax in their formula, so it isn’t vegan.) If you’re looking to try something new or make the natural deodorant switch, I highly recommend giving Type:A. a try. Your pits will thank you.
