When it comes to makeup, I always tell people to do what makes them happy. If you want to go neutral, do it. If you want to wear the boldest shadows, rock it out! Makeup lets us explore who we are and our creativity. However, many people don’t always have the money to expand their collection, especially if they’re unsure whether or not the bold colors will work out. This is where brands like C’est Moi come into play.

About the Brand & What was Sent

This clean beauty brand offers a wide variety of products from skincare to color cosmetics. I’ve been called “basic” many times because I always go for the neutral shadows, so when I was given the opportunity to step outside my typical comfort zone, I couldn’t say no. The brand was kind enough to send their Visual Artist Makeup Crayon (set of 6) to try out, and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on these and try something different. The six shades in the set include:

  • Night: Black
  • Ruby: Red
  • Sapphire: Navy Blue
  • Leaf: Green
  • Daffodil: Bright Yellow
  • Dove: White

There are many benefits to using these products, which include:

  • Made for delicate skin types
  • NO – Talc, Fragrance, Parabens, Phthalates, Sulfates, Mineral oil, or Propylene Glycol
  • Dermatologist tested
  • Clinically tested on sensitive skin
  • Hypoallergenic

Visual Artist Makeup Crayon

The shadow pencils glide on nicely and fairly easy to work with. Everyone is different, but sometimes you have to work quickly with cream products to avoid any creasing. My eyelids crease like you wouldn’t believe, so I have to work quickly – other people may not. The colors are fun, bright, and can be used with any bold eye look you’re going for. At the price point $25 for the Visual Artist Makeup Crayon set of 6, it’s worth stepping outside your normal looks to try something new.

The white makes a great base to help eye shadows pop more, and the black works as a liner, as long as you set it with a black shadow. If you’re really good and working with cream products and shadows, the Visual Artist Makeup Crayon can also be used to darken up your look a little bit.

Overall Thoughts

While $25 can be a little bit more than what some people may want to spend, but you are getting six shadow sticks in the Visual Artist Makeup Crayon set to work with. That’s less than $5 a pencil. I’m enjoying these shadow pencils, and it works out great that they’re a clean brand since I’m moving to only use clean and cruelty-free brands

We Tried 3INA And We’re Stoked

I recently had the opportunity to review a few products from the brand 3INA, and I was shocked – talking Taylor Swift shock face shocked – when the package arrived.

Discovering New To Us Brands: Hynt Beauty

The best part about reviewing makeup is trying products from brands I’m unfamiliar with. Hynt products use quality ingredients that are beneficial to the skin, eco-conscious, cruelty-free, non-irritating, and effective.

They were generous and sent a ton of lipstick samples, their discovery kit, Aria pure lipstick, and a pressed eye shadow.

ARIA PURE Lipstick in Tierra Blush and Pressed Eye Shadow in Crystal Taupe

ARIA PURE Lipstick in Tierra Blush

I love the lipstick packaging. It’s a little bulkier than most, but that’s because there’s a balm at the top. You’re not losing any product with the lipstick to make up for the balm. You’ve got the lipstick, which has .18 oz product and then the balm.

The ARIA PURE lipstick ($29) shade, Tierra Blush, is a dark rosy blush shade. While it looks dark, it’s still the perfect everyday color. Sometimes I will blend it out with my finger to sheer it out and make it look more like a stain. Like with most lipsticks, it lasts a solid couple of hours before having to re-apply.

PERFETTO Pressed Eye Shadow in Crystal Taupe

Anyone who knows me knows that I love Taupe eye shadows. I won’t even admit to the number of taupe shadows that I currently own. Yes, it’s that many.

So course, when I had the opportunity to pick out a pressed eye shadow ($22), I immediately chose Crystal Taupe. Crystal Taupe is a beautiful taupe shade with silver shimmer in it. Let me tell you, this shadow is better than just about all of the other taupe shadows that I own! It’s buttery soft, easy to blend, and the pigmentation is incredible. This shadow immediately made it into my everyday makeup bag. And this rarely happens!

Discovery Kit in Light Beige / Soft Beige

When I was deciding on products to try, I knew I had to get their Discovery Kit ($49). Normally, I don’t try foundations because I am terrible at choosing foundation shades online.

This kit includes:

  • 2 VELLUTO Pure Powder Foundations in Light Beige / Soft Beige
  • 1 DUET Perfecting Concealer in Light
  • 1 FINALE Finishing Powder in Translucent Pearl (Deluxe Sample)
  • 1 LUMIERE Radiance Boosting Powder (Deluxe Sample)

I have to point out right away, that if you don’t like don’t a powder foundation, you will not like this. I’ve been a longtime fan and user of the Bare Minerals foundation, and I’m always on the hunt for a new powder/mineral foundation.

The coverage was pretty light to medium, which is what I prefer. No matter what the brand is, my skin can’t seem to handle a full coverage foundation. The color match wasn’t the best, but that’s on me.

The concealer was really nice for spot concealer, but it didn’t work the best under eyes. Please keep in mind though, my under eye area is extremely dry, and most concealers don’t work because of that. I need an extremely hydrating concealer for my under eyes.

Overall Thoughts

I’m so glad I had the opportunity to test out Hynt Beauty. There are very few brands, where after testing them out, I immediately go to their site and add products to my shopping cart. I can’t wait to try some more from the brand, especially their lipsticks and eye shadows. If you’re looking for a new brand to try that’s cruelty-free and uses great ingredients, do yourselves a favor and try Hynt Beauty! You won’t be disappointed!

A Cruelty-Free Brand People Should Know About

The Organic Skin Co. Products Opened
Beauty Brite Disclosure

One of my big beauty and skin care goals for 2019 is to use more cruelty-free brands. My long-term goals are to go organic and vegan. I recently had the opportunity to kick my 2019 goal into gear by testing out some beauty products from The Organic Skin Co.

About The Organic Skin Co.

“Ethics are important to us. We want you to be clear about what ingredients we put in our products, and we want you to know that we’re doing the right thing by you and by our planet. Here’s a look at all the little things we do to give you peace of mind.”

The Organic Skin Co. is certified organic, cruelty-free, and vegan.

Face Products

Set to Impress Pressed Powder in Moonlit ($56) – This is a great setting powder that has a slight tint to it. When swatching I thought it was going to go on the skin darker, but it doesn’t. For me, that’s a great thing. While translucent powders are great, I do like a little color to them. I don’t typically have a ton of shine during the winter months, but this works great at controlling the shine, even when I’m not wearing any foundation.

Lip Products

All About the Gloss in Mist ($30) – This by far one of my favorite lip glosses that I’ve worn in a long time. It’s perfect for every day, it’s comfortable to wear, doesn’t have a strong odor, and it’s just an all-around great product. I still recommend wearing a lip balm under if you have dry lips, but it’s still an excellent gloss.

Lip Service in Ruby Red ($34.50) – This is a neutral red lipstick that works as an everyday color. Even if you’re like me and don’t typically wear red lipsticks, this is a natural red to wear! It’s moisturizing, goes on smoothly, and does last a good couple of hours before having to re-apply.

Eyes

Black Lash in Black ($40) – This isn’t going to give you the look of false lashes. It’s necessary to point this out right away. However, this is still an excellent mascara for work or school.

Black Lash Mascara opened

The Eyes Have It in Day Dreamer and Misty ($36) – I’ve been on a natural eye makeup look, and even started using cream eye shadows. So of course, I had to test out two of the brands cream shadows: Day Dreamer and Misty. Misty is a muted taupe and Day Dreamer is a medium brown. Both are great to throw on, apply some eyeliner, mascara, and you’re good to go!

Overall Thoughts

If you want a cruelty-free and vegan brand, I can’t say enough about The Organic Skin Co. Everything I’ve tried is great! I already have a cart full of products that I can’t wait to order and try out!

A Highlight Palette That Gives a Subtle Glow

Mally Highlight Trio opened on the package
If you watch YouTube beauty videos and read beauty reviews you know that many makeup “gurus” love a highlight that can be seen from outer space. I totally get it. That kind of shine looks amazing… just not on my skin. I have fairly oily skin, especially during the summer, and I don’t want to add to that. So if I can find a subtle glow with my highlighter I’m really happy. One subtle glow I’m enjoying comes when I use the Soft Focus Lowlight and Highlight Trio ($35) from Mally.
