School has been back in session for a few weeks now and the daily grind of getting everyone up, dressed, and fed is becoming even more taunting than the day before, Breakfast is one of the biggest components. Finding something that is both delicious and healthy while quick to eat can sometimes be difficult. Heres a few simple ideas that you may typically overlook in a rush using a few of Barbara’s cereal selection! I have also included a cereal from Mom’s Best line just to provide variety. Feeding your children a healthy breakfast doesn’t always have to be an in-depth process. There’s also no reason that just because you’re a parent who uses cereal as a breakfast item, that you don’t keep your child’s health in mind.

Let’s Start with a rendition of an old-school classic cereal. Barbaras Organic Honest O’s which are organic honey nut O’s. YUM!

While these may look similar to another popular brand, Barbaras has made sure that Honest O’s are gluten-free, Kosher, non-GMO, and organic! A simple breakfast idea using Barbaras Honest O’s is by simply sticking to the basics. Cereal, milk of your choice, and fruit! My go-to’s are strawberries and bananas but my girls also love Honest O’s with Blueberries, Coconut Chips, and even almond butter.

 

Barbaras Cereal Puffins Peanut Butter

Next up, I have Barbaras Peanut Butter Puffins flavor. I have to admit that I have seen this particular cereal on local retailers shelves for quite some time but I have never tried it. I guess you could say that I assumed since it is organic and a more healthy cereal that it would lack flavor. Safe to say Barbaras did not slack on giving us the flavor one craves when it comes to peanut butter, even in cereal format!

The best thing about Barbaras Puffins Cereal is that it comes in multiple flavors and I know from personal experience that they also tend to come in seasonal flavors as well! Hello Pumpkin!! 

Need a breakfast idea for when you are rushing out the door and simply do not have time to sit and eat at the table? Use Barbaras Peanut Butter Puffins cereal in a homemade trail mix. You can also add it to already made trail mixes but my favorite way is homemade. Or shall I say home mixed.

You can add as many ingredients as you want or as little of ingredients as you want when mixing up your batch of trail mix. I have listed below which ingredients I like to use as well as what you see being used in the image above.

Puffins Peanut Butter Cereal Trail Mix

 

  • 1 6oz bag of Dried (Dehydrated) Mango, Pineapple, and Banana.
  • 1/2 cup of Coconut Chips
    ( You will find these near the produce section in most stores and they either come as crunchy coconut chips or as in the image above, dehydrated fruit that is dehydrated but of a softer texture to chew. Much more kid friendly if you have younger children where chips aren’t ideal.)
  • 1/3 cup of Dried Guava
  • 1/3 cup of Dried Cranberries but you can add more to suit your taste
  • 3/4 cups of Almonds Roasted of your choice, I use Honey Roasted
  • 3/4 cups of Cashews Roasted of your Choice
  • 1.5 cups of Puffins Peanut Butter Cereal

Mix all of this really well and store in an airtight container. Put it in a Ziploc bag or a storage container for when you are on the go and ENJOY!

I bet this trail mix would be equally enjoyable using pretzels, chocolate chips, raisins, marshmallows, peanuts, AND Puffins Pumpkin Cereal.

It’s easy to switch up your child’s breakfast with just a few changes.

Moms Best Crispy Cocoa Rice

I have added in Mom’s Best Crispy Cocoa Rice because they remind me of a cereal that has been around what seems like forever AND it also appeals to those with a sweet tooth. I love that Mom’s Best Crispy Cocoa Rice is gluten-free and uses no artificial flavors or preservatives. There is also no corn syrup, no partially hydrogenated oils, AND Mom’s Best uses real Cocoa for flavoring!

My oldest son has a huge sweet tooth which means finding products that are healthy and fit the sweetness level he craves can be somewhat hard to do. He is also a sssssslllllllllloooooooooowwww eater. Yes, I had to stretch that out because what should take 15 minutes tops to eat, takes him 45 minutes and his cereal always ends up soggy and gross.

I have found the best way to beating soggy cereal, giving him a healthier, and appealing to his sweet tooth is by sticking with another old breakfast classic.

A parfait.

  • 1 5.3oz Yogurt Cup of your choice – I prefer to use Greek as it has lower sugar and higher protein.
  • Cut Up Fruit of Your Choice
  • About 1/4 cup of Mom’s Best Crispy Cocoa Rice (eyeball this to your tastes!)

While I cannot take any credit for these recipes, since they have been around a fairly long time, I did want to take a quick moment to give some ideas on how to swap up your breakfast routine in an easy manner.
