Story behind our furniture

When my husband and I got married, we did not have a lot of money and we still do not have a lot of money.  Just before we got married, we moved to a new city and state.  With very little money, we bought cheap furniture.  Here’s our story behind our furniture…

We seem to move every few years.  I am glad that we do not have expensive furniture with all of the moving we do.  I hope our living situation settles down so where we can set some roots down.  I am tired of moving all the time.

Our newest piece of furniture is our couch.  We bought it two years ago, when we moved into our current apartment.

Some of our oldest furniture is from before our son was born.  We bought our TV stand a few years before our son was born.  I am really surprised it lasted this long.  We want to get something steady and strong and will hold up with our son.  Our son loves to take things apart, so we need something that is well made.

We have a bedroom dresser and bedside drawers that were hand-me-downs from my in-laws.  I also have a dresser from my parents.  I used it when I was growing up.

Our mattress is about 5 years old.  I would love to have a headboard for our bed.  In all of the years we have been married, we have never had a headboard for our bed.

Since we have very little income, we need to upgrade our furniture.  When we get settled into our new home, we would love to get a coffee table.  We’ve never had a coffee table.  There are a few other pieces of furniture and home décor items I want for our new place.

Did you buy your furniture new?  Do you have any used furniture?  What type of furniture do you have?

I love hand-me-down furniture. 🙂 The furniture in our house is about half new and half from the thrift store. The reason I love 2nd hand furniture is that I can paint & do fun things to them. You should check out the DIY headboards on Pinterest! There are so many awesome things you can do and not have to break the bank! 🙂
