Candy, cookies, hot chocolate, oh my. The holiday season is officially here, which also means the season of indulging or overindulging, is also upon us. While there is nothing wrong with enjoying some sweet treats, it’s also important not to go overboard. One of the best ways to keep up or start a new healthy holiday eating habit is by incorporating more veggies into your meals.
Sound a little too time consuming, especially during this busy time? Well, it doesn’t have to be with Eat Smart Vegetable Salad Kits and Salad Shake-ups. Salads are the perfect way to up your veggie intake and reduce your need for that extra slice of pie or just one more cookie.
I’ve been a fan of Eat Smart ever since I stumbled across their brightly colored salad bags. I love a good, healthy salad, but I don’t always love making one from scratch. With Eat Smart, I get a range of delicious, superfood packed options that I can eat as a meal or pair with my favorite lunches or dinners.
Open up a bag of Healthy Habits
Whenever I’m looking for a quick dinner, I like to make homemade pizza. Now you might not think this is a healthy choice, but it can be when you use fresh ingredients. For my crust, I only buy one that is sugar-and preservative free and also contains real ingredients. Next, I pair it with fresh, sauteed spinach with a little bit of garlic and olive oil. I place that on top of sugar and preservative free pizza sauce and then top it with vegetarian feta cheese.
Then, I pop it in the oven and put together one of my favorite Eat Smart Vegetable Salad Kits, The Sweet Kale. It’s packed full of kale, green cabbage, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, chicory, roasted pumpkin seeds and dried cranberries, plus a poppyseed dressing. It is so good. Plus, it’s gluten-free and vegetarian. It’s definitely one of my favorites. I highly recommend giving this salad a try.
If you are a fan of Kale and honey Dijon, you’ll love adding their Sunflower Kale to your healthy holiday meals. For those times when your sweet tooth is calling out, try their Strawberry Harvest. These two salads, as well as all the Eat Smart Vegetable Salad Kits are loaded with good for your superfoods. So not only will you be getting those needed veggies, but also those needed vitamins and minerals.
Shake-up Your Healthy Habit
I don’t know about you, but when it comes to lunch, especially in the fall and winter months, I want something hearty. Usually, this means some soup or pasta. Of course, as much as I love both of those options, they don’t always fill me up. This is when I get in trouble. Instead of grabbing a healthy side, I might gravitate towards chips or a cookie.
Well, not anymore. Thanks to Eat Smart Salad Shake Ups I can stick to my healthy eating and get just enough extra nutrition to keep me going until dinner or snack time. I also like knowing I’m not going to waste food by having a bunch of leftover salad items going bad in my fridge before I can finish them.
Right now, there are only three options to indulge in, Avocado Ranch, Raspberry Acai, and Tropical Lime:
- Avocado Ranch: a crunchy blend of red cabbage, Savoy cabbage, shredded cauliflower stalk, curly kale, shredded carrots, and freeze-dried corn. It also contains shredded cheddar cheese, roasted sunflower seed kernels, crispy onion pieces, dried currants, naturally flavored bacon bean flakes, and a creamy avocado ranch dressing that complements the ingredients.
- Tropical Lime: a tasty blend of vegetables and dried fruits — green cabbage, broccoli stalk, Napa cabbage, curly kale, and Italian kale along with dried pineapple, dried mango, and dried papaya. White sesame seeds, crispy quinoa, roasted red quinoa, and thin crunchy noodles with a creamy coconut lime chili dressing complete the kit to deliver a mouth-watering flavor experience.
- Raspberry Acai: blends broccoli stalk, green cabbage, curly kale, radicchio, dried cranberries, and dried blueberries with sliced toasted almonds and three nutritious varieties of seeds (hemp, flax, and chia). The tangy raspberry acai dressing tops it off perfectly.
These 100% clean salads are free of preservatives, artificial colors, and flavors, and contain 200-280 calories. And bonus, they also come in an easy mix container with a fork. Just open up all the contents, flip the top lid over and give the salad a shake. (Make sure to hold on tightly to the lid or your salad will spill out.) Then, eat and enjoy.
So, this holiday season, or really any time of the year, start a healthy habit. Instead of reaching for those chips, cookies, or other sweet treats, reach for a delicious Shake Up or Vegetable Salad Kit. They are the just what you need to indulge your healthy side in deliciousness and flavor.
