Even though beauty brands are starting to release their new spring products, there are a few regular items from the brand Clarins that people should check out. I haven’t tried a ton of products from this brand, but I’ve enjoyed what I’ve tested out so far.
I recently had the opportunity to test out three products, one of which is a favorite.
Primer To Brighten Sallow Skin
The first is the SOS Primer in 05 Lavender. It’s going visibly brighten sallow skin. I was really intrigued by this because I haven’t seen or used a lavender primer before. I don’t have pale skin or skin that’s an unhealthy yellow. My skin does get a bit dry during the winter months, and the weather has been going crazy for the past month. This is a nice option to make sure my skin is moisturized and my makeup stays on and in place.
High-Quality Eyeshadow Palette
Next up is the wet and dry 4-color eyeshadow palette in 07 Lovely Rose. The claims on the palette are that the shadows are smoothing and long-lasting. This is a beautiful palette that comes with a small card with two looks you can do. I don’t think including that is necessary, but I always like seeing it to get some inspiration for looks. This palette just screams spring!
The shadows are nicely pigmented and super smooth. I will say that when you do a finger swatch for photos they look chalky. Don’t be misled by that. Once you start applying them with a brush, I use the MAC 239, they go on like a dream. The shadows are easy to work with and blend perfectly. Because I have dark eyes that do look a bit irritated (from constantly rubbing my eyes), these colors just emphasize that. This particular palette isn’t the most flattering on me, but I love the shadows that I plan on checking out other palettes from Clarins and picking them up.
A Personal Favorite Lip Balm
Lastly, we’ve got the Instant Light Lip Balm Perfector in 08 Plum. I heard about these from watching The Anna Edit (previously Vivianna Does Makeup) and I think Allison Anderson, and I picked it up in the shade 05 Red. Since then, I’ve gone through two of them and I’m on my third now that’s currently in my purse. This is a sheer plum shade that feels incredible. It goes on smoothly and just feels so moisturizing. I’m not sure if there’s a clear shade, but that would be perfect as an overnight lip balm.
I’m really enjoying the products so far. While the primer isn’t meant for my skin type, it’s still a great primer to make sure my makeup stays in place. The eyeshadow palette isn’t a good color option for me, but it’s still a high-quality palette worth checking out in other shades. The Instant Light Lip Balm Perfector is a favorite and I was excited to receive the plum shade.
Clarins is one of the more affordable high-end brands, and I highly recommend stopping by their counter the next time you’re in MACY’s or Nordstrom.
What are some of your favorite products from Clarins? What should I test out and review next?
