With my son out of school for the summer, I was thinking about washing his backpack but wasn’t sure how. I wondered if it was safe for me to wash his backpack in the washing machine without ruining it. I knew we had a quality backpack.
I bought his backpack about 4 years ago after hearing my co-workers talk about L.L. Bean. They said they have amazing quality products and that they were looking to get new backpacks for their kids too. After reading a few customer reviews, I was amazed at their customer service and the amount of rave reviews! I took a chance and purchased my son a new backpack right then.
Ultimately, I chose the Kids’ Original Book Pack in orange and black camouflage. After making my purchase, I wish I had his monogrammed with something personal! Thankfully I have not seen another child with my son’s same backpack style.
My son is starting “extended school year” which means he will be attending summer school for the month of July. He will be going to school Monday through Thursday, 8am until 12pm. They will feed him breakfast and lunch as well! I am looking forward to the quiet time while he is at school!
Did you know you can machine wash your child’s backpack? Here’s how to wash your child’s backpack:
First and foremost, start with a quality made backpack!
Empty the pockets of the backpack and place in the washing machine. Use the gentle cycle, with mild detergent and cold water.
Air dry the backpack. My son’s backpack was dry by the next morning.
Once dry, reshape the backpack as needed.
This week, I took a chance and washed my son’s backpack in the washer. I used the gentle cycle in cold water. I also happened to throw a few blankets and microfiber towels in there. However, if you have more than one child, you can throw all of your kid’s backpacks in the cycle. I just happen to have one child and one backpack!
I am just so amazed at the quality of L.L. Bean! My son has had his backpack for 4 years and it still looks new. I was tired of having to buy backpacks every school year and now I don’t even worry about that expense anymore.
If you are going to wash your child’s backpack in the washing machine, start with a quality product! I made the mistake of buying cheap backpacks at the store every year. I doubt those survive a machine washing since they just barely survived the school year.
