Grilling for a Group

When grilling for a group, it is important to provide a variety of foods for your guests. However I knew that shopping at Smart & Final, I would find the variety I needed to satisfy all my guests.

I personally like to offer a large variety so that I can cover the needs of adults, children, and those with dietary restrictions. Keeping this in mind, I chose to grill steaks, burgers, hot dogs, chicken legs, and some veggies for my non-meat eating friends. Of course, all that meat needs accompaniment so I also went with my special dill potato salad and homemade pasta salad with peppers.

Interested in my recipes, below are my two favorite go-to sides!

Dill Potato Salad

I love dill and I think it adds great flavor to potato salad so it is my go-to ingredient. In my opinion there is no real way to mess up potato salad, but I do make a mean potato salad, recipe below!

  • 4 russet potatoes peeled, diced and boiled
  • 2 Tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 Tbsp mustard
  • 2 tsp dried dill
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 stalks celery diced
  • 1 small red onion
  • 1 dill pickle diced

After you have boiled and cooled your potatoes, add all your ingredients and mix together, easy-peasy! Most importantly, refrigerate for at least two hours for the best flavor. This recipe serves four to six people depending on what kind of appetite everyone has.

Pasta Salad with Peppers

This recipe I always make 24-hours in advance for the best results. It really helps bring out the flavor of the peppers.

  • 2 cups uncooked elbow pasta
  • 1 1/2 Tbsps mayonnaise
  • 1 Tbsp mustard
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 2 stalks celery diced
  • 1 small red onion
  • ½ large red bell pepper diced
  • ½ large green bell pepper diced

You do not want your mayonnaise and mustard to get lumpy, therefor, after you have boiled and drained the pasta, let it cool or run it through cold water. Next add all the other ingredients and mix together.

This recipe serves four to six people depending on what kind of appetite everyone has.
