If you’ve read some of my previous posts on Beauty Brite you might have heard me mention my affection for Diet Coke. It’s one of my favorite drinks. I often have an icy cold glass of it next to me while writing, playing around on the internet, cleaning, reading or crafting.

They used to have a rewards program that I participated in. I entered codes from their products and traded those points for cool stuff. I think the coolest thing I received through that program was a silver tumbler with a lid and plastic straw. If I had enough points and there wasn’t anything else I was really interested in, I would trade points for a coupon for a free 12-pack of Coca Cola.

Each code you entered earned a specific number of points. The only thing I didn’t like about that program was that you there was a limit on how many codes you could enter to earn points each week.

First of all, several family members knew I was using that rewards program and would save all of their codes for me. In addition to the codes I had from purchased products, I often had some I couldn’t use until later.

Also, I was pretty sporadic about remembering to enter codes. This resulted in the accumulation of zip loc bags full of caps as well as codes torn from 12-packs of Coke building up in my mudroom.

Then, the company announced their intention to discontinue that rewards program, which bummed me out a bit. I was very happy to hear that they intended to launch a different rewards program. So, I held onto the cap codes until I could find out if they would be able to be used with the new rewards program.

This summer has been a bit hard so far with all the unrest in the country and the coronavirus stuff going on. So, I decided it was a good time to check out the new rewards program and do something fun to get my mind off of everything going on in the world for a short time.

I like their Coca Cola Give program because there isn’t a limit on how many codes I can enter (at least that I’ve found, so far).

You probably think I’m joking about having a bunch of codes built up. I assure you, I’m not. Check it out, here are all the codes I had sitting in bags in my mudroom to use when they launched this new program.

Yeah. Not joking! I had been collecting caps in quart-size zip loc bags, using gallon size bags only when I was out of the smaller size and even brown paper lunch sacks when I had no zip loc bags in the house at all. In the end, before taking this picture, I had nearly 30 various bags of caps. It was nuts! It took me about a week of working every evening for a couple of hours to get all of these codes entered into the website.

In looking at their new rewards program, I decided I was interested in using my codes to make monetary donations. To try it out, I chose the American Red Cross and entered a few codes. It is so easy and quick to do!

Then I realized that you can make donations to schools! So, I have subsequently been entering codes with my daughter’s school designated to receive the donations.

If there isn’t a school you’re interested in donating to, here are the other organizations you can choose:

National Park Foundation

Boys and Girls Clubs of America

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Children’s Miracle Network Hospital

American Red Cross

Special Olympics

USO

And for all of you out there about to say I need to find a healthier snack — here ya go!

I thought an apple was a fitting snack while entering codes to benefit my daughter’s school, cuz teachers … apples … pretty neat little connection there. LOL

After entering all the codes you can see in the pictures above, here’s where my total donation history stood.

Yes, that’s nearly $65 donated to my daughter’s school. But, some time has passed since this I took these pics. I have gathered more codes to enter.

As it stands right now, I have donated a total of:

$71.60!!!

It feels good to do a nice thing for my community. Our children’s schools have always been appreciative of the different ways that parents have supported their efforts to provide kids with fun activities and additional educational opportunities that would otherwise be beyond their budgets to provide.

I think this is definitely a much more fun and consistent activity to support our local educational institutions than constant fundraisers. Our local Kroger also has a program that shoppers can sign up for to support schools, so I do that, also. I like these two programs because it’s easier for parents to do things like this. Also, if there were more programs like this, it would mean less time for school personnel researching fundraising efforts and more time doing what they love most — helping our kids to grow into successful, well-rounded adults.

What is your favorite way to support your schools? Alternatively, which of the organizations listed above would you donate to through Coca Cola Give?

Eco-Friendly Toys & Treats Your Pup Will Love

Beauty Brite Disclosure
Eco-Friendly Toys & Treats Your Pup Will Love

As a dog mom or current foster dog mom, I only want the best for my little furball. This applies to everything from the food she eats to the toys she destroys; ingredients and materials matter, even for our pets. It’s also why I was excited to try Pure Earth Pets, a monthly subscription box full of eco-friendly toys & treats, and more.

Good for your dog & the planet
Pure Earth Pets eco-friendly toy and treat Subscription Box

Pure Earth Pets does more than curate tasty treats and fun toys for dogs of all sizes. They also only work with companies who care about your pet and the planet. Toys are made from recycled materials and treats feature natural, healthy ingredients. Additionally, each subscription comes to you in a biodegradable box, so you won’t have to worry about it clogging up the landfills.

But what I love most about Pure Earth Pets is the fact that each month they donate a portion of their sales to a pet-centric charity. It’s hard not to support an eco-friendly treat and toy subscription box company that cares so much for our furry friends.

Eco-Friendly Treats & Toys
Eco-friendly toys and more

As I mentioned above, Pure Earth Pets sent me a box full of four eco-friendly treats, a toy, and a pet waste bag dispenser. Of all the items inside, my foster pup, Chipper, was most excited by the toy.

This “Starpups Coffee” stuffed toy is made in the USA from recycled post-consumer materials. It’s machine washable and can be dried in your dryer.

Chippy loved this toy so much that she ripped the stuffing out of it in about ten minutes or so. Of course, in her defense, she is a toy terrorist. I can’t tell you how many tennis balls we go through in a week. Regardless, she loves to play with the remains of the Starpups Coffee toy, which is still intact, minus the stuffing.

I was extremely glad to see the Houndscoop Dispenser with 15 heavy-gauge, leakproof bags in the box. The clip on my current poop bag holder had given out so I was in need of a new one. I love that the Houndscoop features a Velcro strap I can easily attach to the leash. I’m also a fan of how easy the eco-friendly bags come out. It makes cleaning up after Chippy Chip a little less of a chore.

Eco-friendly treats for your dog

Finally, we have a unique selection of treats, including:

  • Petipet Mobility Bars – Made with human-grade ingredients, including carrots, apples, and baobab, these bars are designed to support your dog’s hips and joints.
  • Brewscuits – Made from simple, natural ingredients like wet brewers grains and sweet potatoes, these treats provide your pup with a nice crunchy snack.
  • YakyPuff – Made with yak and cow milk, as well as other natural ingredients, these treats let your dog indulge in their love of cheese.
  • Yaky Charms – Made from a traditional Himalayan cheese recipe, these unique microwavable treats are light and crunchy, as well as grain-free, lactose-free and gluten-free.
Chippy’s Picks

My little Chippy Chiperson isn’t much of a treat hound. Although, she does like to try and steal my salads or avocado toast. But one thing she absolutely loves is cheese. It’s how I get her to take her meds, by sneaking it in melted cheese.

So can you guess which eco-friendly treats she loved most? Yep, it was the YakyPuff and the Brewscuits. My girl loves her cheese as well as anything that lets her indulge in her favorite pass time of crunching and chewing. Occasionally, she will also eat one of the YakyCharms.

While the Petipet’s weren’t her thing, I know my dogphew Cooper will love them. As a senior dog, he will benefit from their hip and joint support and softer texture.

If you’re looking to try some eco-friendly toys and treats your dog will love, I highly recommend Pure Earth Pets subscription boxes. And if you use code BLACK FRIDAY, you can get your first box for only $5, with the purchase of a six-month monthly subscription.

Have you tried Pure Earth Pets? Which eco-friendly treat would your dog love?

Carry Your Essentials In Style

Whenever I go out, whether it’s to run errands, doctor appointments, pick up my son from school, chaperone school field trips, or shopping, I like carrying a tote bag to carry other items. I love using a tote bag to carry items that won’t fit in my purse. If I know I’m going to be away from home for a few hours, I tend to carry an extra battery pack to charge my phone, wall charger and other essentials.  Do you carry a tote bag when you are out and about? Why not carry your essentials in style!

Our pets are treated as children and a huge part of our family. Currently, we have a Jack Russel named Sophie and a kitten named Trisha. I am unashamed to say that they both get wrapped presents from Santa and they both have a stocking on our fireplace. Sometimes, though, I have a hard time finding treats with natural ingredients to benefit their health. Personally, I have taken to using Hemp Oil and CBD Oil as natural alternatives to prescription medication and chemical packed salves. I wanted to incorporate this into my dog’s health as she has terrible allergies and itchy skin.

Wrap Them in Healing Comfort

Call it writer’s block or procrastination, but finding the right words for this post has been a struggle. Although writing is what I do for a living, talking about July 21, 2017, is still so raw and painful. After two years of fighting harder than I ever thought possible, my mom lost her battle against Stage IV Colon Cancer. That morning and the day she was diagnosed are two of the worst days of my family’s life. Since then, I’ve been longing for some healing comfort.
