Best Time Ever? Well, Yes, Yes It Was!

I think I’ve been a little in love with Neil Patrick Harris ever since his Doogie Howser, M.D. days. The tv series aired from 1989-1993. You can watch episodes of the show on IBDm.

More recently, my daughter and I have had a great time watching Harris’ comedic antics as Barney on How I Met Your Mother. Unfortunately, 2014 saw the end of the comedy. The world shed a collective tear when it was over.If you haven’t seen it, it’s definitely a binge-worthy series.

But, I am super-excited to see Harris back on TV in his new comedy, Best Time Ever, a variety series airing Tuesdays at 10 pm Eastern on NBC. Those of us on the East coast are lucky enough to get to watch it live. Those of you in other time zones will just have to wait as the series will be telecast for you on a tape delay. But, never fear, it will be just as fummy as getting to watch it live.

The show features celebrity guests, pranks, fun stunts, mini-game shows, competitions, and there’s no telling what else! The first show, which aired last night, featured a celebrity prank on the judges of The Voice (Ferrell Williams, Gwen Stefani, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton); legendary music artist, Gloria Gaynor, leading a fun karaoke segment in which unsuspecting home viewers were the contestants; and testing Reese Witherspoons self-professed (though downplayed) slight fear of heights among much other mirth-inducing comedy.

My absolute favorite part of the show was the couple he selected from the audience to come up onstage to reveal that he’s been infiltrating their life. They looked completely floored as he revealed that he’d been in attendance at several events in their lives, and then backed it up with (what else?) video footage. He posed as the doorman at the hotel in NYC where they were staying, opening the door to assist them out of their vehicle. Funny, yes, but not that unbelievable. But, wait, he then goes on to show them who was really inside the mascot suit at a football game they attended at which the mascot singled them out for a little love. Yep, it was Neil! But, wait, the best was yet to come. He then revealed that he’d also attended … wait for it … their wedding! Not only that, he’d photobombed some of their WEDDING PHOTOS! Hil-freakin-larious!!! He made up for the invasions by gifting them a honeymoon trip to Antigua, though. So, it’s all good.

Our family has been eagerly awaiting this new show for weeks now and, in my opinion, it didn’t disappoint. I can’t wait to see what fun stuff awaits us next week.

Want to nominate someone to be a part of the show. Head over HERE to do it. Yes! Do it!!

Who else caught the show, what did you think of it and what was your favorite part?
