There are some ingredients and scents that irritate certain people’s nostrils–and, when involved in skincare products or lotions, those pungent or sickly-sweet scents can often get all the more overpowering. Meet Tree Hut’s Moroccan Rose Collection–one of the only skincare collections that I’ve ever found to smell both subtle and (no exaggeration) delicious!
The story of a far-gone city girl traveling to a new place–and discovering redemption, and herself, along the way–is by no means an original one. However, such a plot-line deserves some repetition. It’s satisfying, sweet, and serves as a more tangible example of the search for self that we all strive towards. So, knowing that the book Between Lost and Found (whose heroine, Janelle Marshall, finds love and closure while searching for her missing grandfather in a little South Dakota town called Mammoth Falls) would involve said plot-line, I was excited and pleased to read the story. Shelly Stratton’s book, Between Lost and Found, has all the pleasurable cliches of a typical find-yourself-novel–but none of the typical brattiness that also comes along with it.
When it comes to magazines’ summer content, there are two things that can be clearly detected in virtually every photo. One: the models’ faces are slender and happy. Two: their hair is flowing, wild and free, in their faces. De-puffed faces, most of us can get on board with; but having hair in your face, particularly on a day in one of the sweatiest seasons? No thank you!
To say that bikini season is a phenomenon is an understatement. Every year in modern times, the phrase pops up as early as February or April: “Bikini season is coming! Get in shape!”, or “Since we all know that bikini season is coming, it’s time to start that diet…”.
As someone who has only just recently begun to drink tea, I can honestly say that I’ve been impressed by the beverage. Tea can be filling, soothing, energizing–it can perk you up for work, cool you down with some added ice, or relax you for bedtime, whatever you choose! And among all of the most revered teas is matcha. Matcha is a type of green tea, which is apparently chock-full of good ingredients for humans; green tea is already considered to be one of the better teas for you and has natural caffeine in it, but matcha is apparently something really special!
For me, a bath has always been a time for luxury, decadence, and relaxation. It’s a time to soak, to reflect, and to absorb–something that becomes all the more relevant when said bath water has extra benefits and ingredients within it! Bath salts are one particularly lovely way to enhance your bathing experience, and the Florida-based company Spice Labs has (among other things) an entire plethora of pure and beneficial salts, packaged in large and beautiful bottles to boot!
As a makeup user, I’ve become familiar with plenty of brands–but as any simple trip to Sephora or Ulta will tell you, there are always more to find and explore! One brand that I’ve recently come across is Mally Beauty, a line whose creator has been a professional makeup artist for years (and worked with the likes of Jennifer Lopez). Mally–the founder and namesake of the brand–promises that her brand is cruelty-free and “high-performance” for women on the go (of which there are many!).
When it comes to the beautifying process, a lot can be involved. Makeup, skincare, fashion…those are all key players in the stylish persona that is you. However, the products on your face and body aren’t necessarily more important than what’s on your head! If your hair is happy, you might not need much else–and SoapBox understands that. With shampoos and conditioners that come in a variety of scents–and come in gigantic bottles, so that your family will have a surplus of product (as opposed to the ever-looming hazard of running out mid-shower)–SoapBox is ready to make your hair regimen a positive one, instead of a chore!
Transparency is the new trend; throughout modern society, people are endeavoring to learn more about what they’re eating, what they’re wearing (did you know that, according to a recent mindbodygreen article, one fast-fashion T-shirt “uses 700 gallons of water” to be made?!), and where their trash is going (check out The Story of Stuff for more on that subject). The beauty world is also following this trend by heading down the vegan and cruelty-free road. While “vegan” does not necessarily mean perfect, its “cruelty-free” partner is usually the tagline that actually sells me on a product.
Confession: I’m not much for the gym on a day-to-day basis. More often than not, my intentions to complete a workout have fallen flat before I’ve even stepped towards my sneakers! That being said, I do get myself up and out for the occasional exercise–and when I do, I like to be ready for the aftermath. Post-workout is also usually pre-workday for me, which means that I’ll be refreshed, sweaty, and not even remotely presentable. So what’s a girl to do? Turns out, YUNI has the answer!
