Give Your K-Beauty a Super Fruit Upgrade

Give Your K-Beauty a Super Fruit Upgrade
Beauty Brite Disclosure

Every now and again a surprise package shows up at my door. It makes me feel like a kid on their birthday. You can imagine my excitement when FaceTory unexpectedly sent me their Lux Plus box to review. Because I had so much fun with their March 7 Lux Box, I couldn’t wait to try out some new Super Fruit infused K-Beauty products.

Get Your Super Fruit Glow On
K-Beauty Super Fruit_Facetory Lux Plus Box

When I opened my Lux Plus Box, I was intrigued by array of products. We have a full size cleanser, serum, and konjac sponge, as well as three sheet masks, and a mini hand cream set. All of which feature super fruit botanicals as part of their ingredient lists.

In addition to the products, the box also comes with a handout guide that provides details about each item. I especially like the key ingredient and direction sections.  It is a nice, helpful bonus.

The Lotus Jeju Botanical pH Balancing Cleanser
Super Fruit The Lotus Cleanser

One of the first products I gravitated towards was The Lotus Cleanser. I’m a sucker for beautifully designed packaging like the one featured on the cleanser box. I was also intrigued by the key ingredients of Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract and Nelumbo Nucifera Leaf Extract. I had a sneaking suspicion I was going to love this cleanser thanks to my previous use of aloe vera based products. They are so hydrating and nonirritating on my sensitive, dry skin.

My instincts were correct. This gel to foam cleanser leaves my skin balanced and free of impurities without feeling stripped of moisture. It’s so gentle and works exceptionally well with the konjac sponge.

Dr. Lola Jeju Nature Cleansing Tool
K-Beauty_ Dr Lola Konjac Sponge

Like the aloe based cleanser, I’ve also used a Konjac Sponge before. It’s such a unique tool. Made from the konjac root, the sponge naturally cleanses and exfoliates your skin. While it’s ideal for acne prone skin, it can be used on all skin types because it very mildly exfoliates and removes dirt and oil.

K-Beauty Super Fruit_ Cleanser and Konjac Sponge Use

I use it once or twice a week to help give my skin an extra boost of dead skin removal and cleansing. You can use the sponge alone or add a cleanser to it. I like to pair it with The Lotus Cleanser for a nice super fruit treatment. Once I’m done, I rinse out the sponge and place it in a konjac container I have from Julep. This helps keep it protected and from drying out.

Puregen Multi Collagen Power Lifting Serum
Super Fruit Puregen Serum

Next up in the land of super fruit, we have the Puregen serum. I don’t know how I lived without serums before incorporating them into my skincare routine. They really do make a huge difference, and this serum is no exception. It’s both lightweight and very nourishing.

Puregen Super Fruit Serum Use

With key ingredients like Hydrolyzed Collagen and Opuntia Coccinellifera Fruit Extract, my skin gets a boost of hydration, as well as anti-aging and anti-inflammatory benefits. My skin absolutely loves this serum, and I love how soft and nourished it feels all day and all night.

Super Fruit Sheet Masks
Super Fruit Infused Facial Masks

As I mentioned above, in addition to full size skincare products, the Lux Plus box also comes with 3 sheet masks. This time I received the Ariul Juice Cleanse Mask 2x Raspberry Lentil, Huangjisoo Centella Repairing Mask, and the FaceTory Let’s Talk Vitality Mask. I enjoyed treating my skin to all three.

First up, I used the Centella Mask, which features Centella Asiatica and Tremella Fuciformis Extract. These ingredients help heal and protect, while also brightening and evening out skin tone. The mask does have a strong floral, fruit scent, but it’s not so overpowering that it makes hard to wear for the suggested 15-20 minutes. It fit my face well and left my skin feeling refreshed, hydrated, and very soft.

Next, I used The FaceTory Let’s Talk Vitality Mask.  This mask features Punica Granaturn Fruit Extract and Shea Butter. These ingredients help soften the skin, while also delivering anti-oxidant rich properties that help reduce the signs of aging.

K-Beauty Facetory Mask Wear

Of the three masks I tried, this one was my favorite. I like the thick consistency of the mask, which helped it adhere well to my face. It was also very cooling and left my skin feeling soft and hydrated and looking plump.

Finally, we have the Ariul Juice Cleanse Mask. This unique mask features a nourishing Raspberry and Lentil filled essence, which helps your skin fight off free radicals. The essence also works to brighten and tighten skin, while increasing hydration.

Though it does take a little more effort to mix the essence with the mask, it’s also kind of fun. I did have some issues getting the mask to align and adhere to my face. While the mask was soothing, it did feel a  little intense on my skin. However, I did love seeing how glowy my face looked after I took the mask off.

Duft & Doft Mini Hand Creams Set
K-Beauty Mini Hand Creams

Finally we have the super fruit packed mini hand cream set. As someone who can’t be without hand cream, most of the time, I am happy to have these in my collection. I keep one in my purse and another in my car.

The set includes four hand creams in four different scents. There is a nice range of fruity, floral, and musky, which I like. What I appreciate most is the texture. Formulated with shea butter and collagen, all of the hand creams are super hydrating without being greasy. I especially appreciate this when I’m in the car. I know I can apply my hand cream and not have to worry about my hands sliming up the steering wheel.

And bonus, they also help to reduce the signs of aging. I really like this because your hands are one of the first parts of your body to show age.

I’m so glad FaceTory sent me their Lux Plus box to try. It’s an affordable way to try unique K-Beauty products. I’m really loving the Super Fruit theme of this box and the results I’ve experienced with all the products.

Have you tried FaceTory before? Which Super Fruit product would you like to try?

Start a Delicious Morning Routine

Start a Delicious Morning Routine
Beauty Brite Disclosure

Whether my alarm goes off or not, I don’t meet the morning with glee. After untangling myself from the sheets, I stumble out of bed with messy hair, blurry eyes, and the inability to create coherent sentences. As you can imagine, breakfast is not always on my mind. Counting down when I can go back to sleep is more my speed, unless I have something delicious to get my morning routine going.

My Plant-Based Morning Routine
A Delicious Morning Routine with Puffins and Elmhurst

A few years ago I switched to a more plant-based diet. One of the easiest places to make this change came at breakfast. Usually this in the form of a green smoothie of some type, but this isn’t always convenient. Let’s face it, when you’re not a morning person, busting out the blender and the measuring cups can be a chore.

This is why I was so excited to add Barbaras Puffins Cereal and Elmhurst Milks to my morning routine. They’re a quick, delicious healthy way to help me start my day.

Cereal + Milk = Delicious

One of the reasons I begrudgingly ate cereal as a kid was because I never liked the taste of milk. Most of the time, I would eat my cereal out of the box or pour it in the bowl plain. This is how much I don’t like dairy milk.

I was so excited when dairy alternatives started arriving at my grocery store. Back then, there was only one alternative option. Today, I can choose from Oat, Almond, and Cashew.

Morning Routine_Elmhurst Plant Based Milks

Before Elmhurst kindly sent me some of their milks for review, I had tried their Oat Milk and was already a fan. One of the things I like most about these unsweetened plant-based milks is how few ingredients they contain. Their Almond and Cashew have two ingredients, nuts and filtered water, while their Oat has three, water, oats and salt.

Morning Routine_Elmhurst Milks

These milks are rich, creamy and free from fillers, artificial flavors, and sugars. They are also the perfect pairing for Barbaras Puffins Cereal.

Another reason I gave up on the traditional milk and cereal was because of how mushy my cereal would get. If I didn’t eat it quick enough it would become a bowl of yuckiness. So, I was a bit skeptical about adding Puffins to my morning routine. Would these bite-sized puffs hold up to the Elmhurst milk?

Morning Routine_Barbaras Puffins Cereal

In reality, I had nothing to worry about because they are made for mixing with milk. They stay crunchy, while also absorbing just enough of the milk creaminess.

The brand was kind enough to send me two of the cereal varieties, Peanut Butter and Honey Rice. Not only do I enjoy their crispy texture, but I also love the taste. They are just right amount of hearty and sweet.

Morning Routine_Puffin Cereal Bites

Another Puffins perk is that they are low in sugar and available in vegan and vegetarian options. Their peanut butter (6 grams of sugar per serving) is low fat, vegan, and made from corn and whole grain oat.  The Honey Rice (5 grams of sugar per serving) is vegetarian, low fat, rich in fiber and made from gluten-free whole grain brown rice.

Did I mention the also have cinnamon, peanut butter and chocolate, and pumpkin cereals? I can definitely see them making an appearance in my morning routine very soon. I wonder which version of Elmhurst milks I should pour over each first? Something tells me all of their milks would pair oh so well with all of these cereals.

If you looking to add some delicious to your morning routine, try the fabulous combo of Elmhurst planet-based milks and Barbaras Puffin Cereal. I can’t promise they will make you a morning person, but they’ll at least make getting up a little easier.

What’s your morning routine? Are you a cereal and milk fan?

Green Beauty with a Tropical Twist

Green Beauty with a Tropical Twist
Beauty Brite Disclosure

When you apply your makeup are you transported to a land of rolling waves and sun-kissed beaches? Does a tropical island blend nourish your skin with every swipe or brush tap? If this sounds too good to be true, it’s not.  It’s all possible with the green beauty brand, Caley Cosmetics.

Meet Green Beauty Brand Caley Cosmetics

Launched in 2018 by mother-daughter team, Annie & Cindy Holland, Caley Cosmetics is a new player on the green beauty, indie scene. Their motto, to create a natural beauty brand that makes you feel like you’re on vacation every day, is unique and inspiring.

As a huge supporter of women owned, indie brands, I love everything about Caley Cosmetics. All of their products are:

  • Leaping Bunny Certified, cruelty-free
  • Made in a family-owned, green beauty facility in Texas
  • Score a 1 or 2 on the EWG toxicity scale (meaning they are safe & nontoxic)
  • Free of sulfates, silicones, parabens, phthalates, petroleum, artificial dyes or fragrances
  • Contain sustainably sourced ingredients manufactured with little to no carbon footprint

Additionally, every one of their products features their island blend of watermelon, pineapple, hibiscus, mango, jasmine, and papaya. This tropical essence is loaded with good for your skin antioxidants that both protect your skin and give it a natural, healthy glow.

Beach Babes Natural Eyes & Brows

The brand was kind enough to send me a selection of their products, including their Beach Babe Natural Eyes liner in Midnight. I also picked up the Beach Babe Natural Brows pencil in Dark.

Available in twelve shades (matte, shimmer & metallic), the Beach Babe Natural Eyes liner comes in a pencil form. Before you think, “ugh not another hard pencil liner,” let me tell you it’s anything but hard. Designed to apply like a gel liner, the Beach Babe Natural Eyes liner glides on very smoothly.

Green Beauty Beach Babe Natural Eyes and Brows

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I like this liner. If there is one product I hardly use, it’s eye liner. I just find it so hard to apply on my small eyes and crepey lids. This was not the case with the Natural Eyes liner in Dark, a matte black.

The creamy, water-proof formulation is easy to work with yet has great lasting power and doesn’t budge or smudge. There is nothing worse than looking in the mirror to find your liner has travelled and you now look like a raccoon.

Most of all, I like how it made my blue eyes pop, which is exactly what the liner is designed to do. There must be some kind of magic in that ingredient list of fruit and botanical extracts and oils.

Green Beauty - Beach Babe Natural Eyes & Brows Swatches

Next up, is the Beach Babe Natural Brows, which is currently available in four shades. I did see the founder respond to a consumer review of the product stating that they are working on expanding the line. I couldn’t decide between Brunette and Dark but opted for Dark to match my cool undertones.

When I first tried out this brow pencil, I was not a fan. The formulation was so soft I struggled with the application. Although the pencil provided definition it also seemed to apply too much product. My brows were looking dark and chunky. With a little spoolie finessing and some clear brow gel I was able to tone it down.

But then something changed, the more I used the Beach Babe Natural Brows pencil, the better it performed. Now application is like a nice, warm tropical breeze on summer’s night. That might sound a little flowery, but it’s true. I find it very easy to create a brow look that is both natural and precise. I also appreciate how the formula dries down to a soft matte, almost powder-like finish.

Let’s just say when I pair my Beach Babes Natural Eyes and Natural Brows together, my eyes look incredible. They pop to perfection, without looking over done.

Beach Babe, Beach Kiss & Color Wave
Green Beauty Beach Babe and Color Wave lip products

In addition to the liner, Caley Cosmetics also sent me their Beachy Kiss Natural Lip Gloss and Color Wave Natural Lipstick. I also picked up their Beach Babe Natural Lips Liner to pair with the lipstick.

First, let’s talk about the packaging of the gloss and lipstick. They look and feel both modern and feminine. It makes me happy each time I see them sitting on my vanity.

The Color Wave Natural Lipstick, available in 14 colors, features a blend of watermelon, pineapple, hibiscus, jasmine and mango. This combination, along with other good for your lips ingredients, helps hydrate and protect the delicate skin on your lips.

Although I’ve only tried one color, Babydoll a peach nude, I’m very impressed with the pigmentation. The color is rich and very flattering to my skin tone. It’s also the perfect shade for spring and summer.

Green Beauty - Beach Babes Lips and Beachy Kiss Gloss

To complete my perfect pout, I picked up the Beach Babe Natural Lips liner in Coral. Like Baby Doll, it’s a pretty nude. It gives my lips definition, while also preventing from feathering, fading or bleeding.

I typically don’t wear lip liner as much as I did in my colleg days. Of course back in the 90s it was all about the liner, the darker the better. After using the Caley Cosmetics lip liner, I think it’s time I wear it more. The formula is longer wearing and hydrating. Not only does it look good on my lips, but it also feels amazing.

Green Beauty - Lip Swatches

Finally, we have the Beachy Kiss Natural Gloss in Sunshine Sparkle. I really hope the brand expands this  line because this gloss is very unique. It’s not sticky or greasy. Instead, it feels like you are wearing a nourishing oil on your lips.

You can wear the gloss alone, for a boost of hydration and sparkle, or over top your favorite lipstick. I like to pair it with BabyDoll and Coral. It gives my lips that perfect touch of shine I love. I also like to apply it to my lips on no makeup days. It nourishes my lips and gives my face a little boost of radiance.

After trying out all these goodies from Caley Cosmetics, I’m looking forward to seeing what they do in the future. I also hope to try out more of their liners, lipsticks, and the, soon to be released, Sunkissed Mineral Makeup.

Are you a fan of green beauty? Which Caley Cosmetics product would you try first?

Go Wild for Sustainably Caught Fish

Go Wild for Sustainably Caught Fish

Beauty Brite Disclosure

Growing up in Florida you become a bit of a seafood snob. When you’re able to catch it yourself, you know how good fresh fish tastes.  Of course, this isn’t an option for everyone, which is why most fish is bought in-store. In recent years, however, many types of seafood have been overfished or produced in farms. This can compromise both flavor, quality, and the underwater ecosystem. Thankfully, it doesn’t have to when you choose to purchase wild, sustainably caught fish.

One brand on such a mission is Wild Planet.  All of their products are sustainably caught. This means they don’t overfish the oceans, damage the habitat, or catch juvenile or non-targeted species. It’s a philosophy I fully support.

It aligns with the habits I was taught as a kid. Every time we went out on the boat, my parents always made sure we respected the water and the beings living below the surface.  We never caught more than we could eat. If the seafood was too small or not in season, we always returned it to the ocean. Though we had to leave a few anchors in the sea when they got stuck, we never considered the water our garbage can.

Sustainably Caught Fish – Skipjack Tuna

Sustainably caught fish - Skip Jack tuna

Wild Planet was kind enough to send me several of their products to try, including their Skipjack Tuna in a pouch. Though I’ve had their canned tuna before, this was the first time I tried the Skipjack pouch. I really enjoy both varieties. You can taste the difference in this sustainably caught fish. It’s like throwing out a line and catching it fresh yourself.

All of Wild Planet’s tuna is 100% pole and line caught in Central or North Pacific Ocean. Allowing the fish to remain in its natural habitat ensures you are getting the freshest fish every time. The skipjack tuna contains no salt and is packed raw without oil, water or fillers. It is then cooked once to help it maintain its rich abundance of DHA and EPA Omega 3’s. Consuming Omega 3’s is good for your mind, body, and soul.

There are lots of ways to enjoy tuna, but one of my favorites is the tuna melt. I like to add a bit of mayo, white pepper, and garlic salt to my tuna. This is followed by chopped celery and carrots. I then place the mixture on my favorite sprouted bread and top it off with cheddar cheese. In this case, I used vegan cheddar cheese.

Wild Sardines and Mackerel

Sustainably caught fish - wild sardines and mackerel

Wild Planet was also kind enough to send me their sustainably caught Wild Mackerel and Wild Sardines in Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Just like the tuna, both of these skinless and boneless fillets are delicious. This variety features very simple ingredients, hand-fillet fresh fish, organic olive oil and sea salt.

These Atlantic Ocean sardines and mackerels are fished using purse seine methods. This sustainable method targets only the desired species. It also helps to eliminate catching fish you don’t want and doesn’t damage the ecosystem.

Wild Planet’s sardines and mackerels are rich in protein and EPA/DHA Omega 3s. I like to add them to salads for that extra punch of protein and salty, smokiness. I find them especially tasty in Caesar salad. They complement the creamy dressing perfectly. Mackerel also works well as a tuna substitute, while sardines are a great addition to your favorite bruschetta recipe.

So next time you’re craving some seafood, consider picking up the sustainably caught fish varieties from Wild Planet. You’ll not only taste the difference, but you’ll also be supporting a more eco-conscious brand.

What’s your favorite way to eat tuna? Have you tried canned sardines or mackerel?
