Well, the color green is known to help productivity – which is why so many people have it in offices and work areas. It is a calming color, but somehow also manages to pep people up. It, of course, is the symbol that you will find the most when something is related to nature in some way. And, as an added bonus, dark green is associated with money.

Not everyone has a green finger. Some people actually just find gardening boring and more effort than it is worth. However, getting your hands into the dirt and your feet flat on some grass is really good for your posture and sense of being in the universe. According to Psychology Today – circa 2004 – people who spent more time in the garden and outdoors, in general, felt happier over time. Houseplants are a great way to bring nature indoors, they are calming and some are easy to care for.

If you have woods or some fields nearby that are free to walk in, try to book in some time with yourself to go walking at least once a week. In the early days, you might resent taking time away from your mobile phones and computers to get fresh air. And sometimes the weather is less than perfect for walking in – so get yourself some nice walking boots too. It isn’t for everyone, but even skincare companies are using CBD and weed in their products because of the positive benefits.

Adding more green vegetables into your diet will give you a boost in antioxidants, calcium, vitamins C and K. they are great for your skin, hair, and digestive system too. So adding some extra greens into your diet is ideal as a form of green therapy. 

When it comes to calming your mind, you might want to consider also having some extra tools in your arsenals like headspace, or the calm app. They have guided meditation and sleeps stories that are designed to help you relax and get a goodnight’s sleep. Unplugging from social media and online is another way that people are finding a lot of space to stop continually comparing themselves to others. 

So the next time you need a time out – head for green.
