Festival season is here. From music to food, to art and everything in-between, festival goers are lining up to experience all the sights and sounds the season has to offer. They’re also shopping for that perfect festival look. Even though I don’t always get some of their choices, I do admire their tenacity.
When it comes to festival fashion, most people let their freak flag fly. Whether you’re going to Bonnaroo or Taste of Chicago, being festival chic is essential. To help make that happen, I’m sharing some top tips for looking and feeling festival ready. Because no one wants to make the “Fashion Don’t” List or any other festival “Don’t” list for that matter.
It probably goes without saying, but you can’t spend so much time in the sun without protecting your skin. Sunscreen is a must for any savvy festival attendee. As a super pale girl, my sunscreen requirements are simple, give me an SPF that works and won’t irritate my skin. One of my new favorite sunscreens for the face is the Korres YOGHURT Nourishing Fluid Veil Face Sunscreen SPF 30.
It’s ultra-sheer, natural formula, which contains yogurt, as well as rice and camapu extract, helps to nourishes my skin, while also providing broad spectrum UV protection. I really like how moisturizing it feels on my face and how well it pairs with makeup. Because the Nourishing Fluid Veil Face Sunscreen contains Provitamin B5, it also helps to reduce any redness or inflammation I might have going on. It’s also free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates, and isn’t tested on animals.
Another must have on hot festival days and nights is deodorant. For me, this means natural deodorant. I’ve been wearing natural deodorant for several years now. I’ve tried quite a few. Some worked great, others not so much. If you’re familiar with paraben and aluminum free deodorant, that also happens to be cruelty-free, then no doubt you know Lavanila.
With its proprietary SmartSport Technology, their 2016 Allure Best of Beauty Award Winner for Best Deodorant, Lavanila Sport Luxe, was designed to keep sweat and odor at bay. It’s also clinically tested, dermatologist recommended, vegan, free from harsh chemicals, and has a nice fresh scent. As you can see there’s a lot to like about SportLuxe. Plus, you can buy it in a handy mini size, which makes it great for travel and carrying in your festival bag.
Now that don’t have to worry about a sunburn or being the stinky kid, it’s time to move on to hair. It isn’t always easy to keep your hair looking it’s best when it’s hot and humid out. How about adding a little champagne to the mix with Cuvee Champagne Spray?
Yes, you read the sentence correctly. This lightweight texturizing spray that uses champagne and wine extract to help you create the perfect tousled, “I woke up this way” hair. As an added perk, the Cuvee Champagne Spray also conditions hair and provides antioxidant protection. It’s cruelty, sulfate, phthalate, and paraben-free, and safe for color or chemically treated hair. What I like best about this heavenly spray, it gives my hair amazing volume without making my hair feel crunchy or weighed down.
What do you do when you want great festival hair, but your way too hot? Add an on-trend headband. I’m not talking about just any headband, I’m referring to the magnifique Hairdo French Braid Headband. Available in eight colors to match your hair, this fun twist on a headband is quick and easy to use. It’s the perfect accessory for straight and sleek or boho wavy hair all festival long.
