Took the plunge

I took the plunge and I applied for a promotion at work. I have only been at my current job since July 8th, however, I can apply for a promotion at any time. Being new at my job, I am still learning. I am learning every day but I am mainly motivated by more money. That may sound greedy but I also want more responsibility. The more I learn the more valuable I am to the agency.

I applied for a case worker position. It seems stressful, so I am a little worried about that aspect. I do try to stay organized with my family life. Even so, I am excited about the opportunity and will continue to look for other positions and apply for them as I see them. It takes about three months to interview for positions, so I may not interview for the position until January.

Have you ever applied for a promotion? This is my third time applying for a promotion in my life. The first time was when my husband and I were dating. I asked him if I should and he encouraged me to go for it. I ended up getting the promotion. The work environment and people were completely different from what I was used to. I was working in a department that was fun and laid back and friendly. The new department I transferred to was the opposite. They were not very welcoming either. Unfortunately, I did not last long in that position.

The second promotion I went for was the same year my husband and I got married. I applied for a lead position at the hotel I was working at. I got the position and my job duties really didn’t change. My pay changed a bit though.

This is the third promotion I am going for. As I wait for a possible interview, I plan on looking for other internal positions.
