When I was asked to try tamanu oil, I was intrigued because I had never heard of it. I couldn’t ascertain a lot of much information on it like I would for other natural beauty oils. The little information I did find made me want to try it for myself! I received a sample product to review in exchange for my honest opinion.
The only information I did find stated that tamanu oil can be used for hair, skin and nails. There was really no mention of how to use it. Thankfully, the company sent me the following information regarding the product:
A little oil goes a long way. There’s no need to use more than a few drops to get great results.
Skin: Apply one to two times a day after cleansing. Gently massage the oil into your skin, avoiding the eye area as tamanu oil can irritate the eyes.
Hair: Rub a few drops into damp hair before blow drying will leave hair shiny and silky. A small amount can also be applied on dry hair and ends to moisturize hair.
Scalp: Apply a small amount of oil to the scalp and gently massage throughout to nourish and stimulate the scalp. Allow the oil to absorb at least 30 minutes to overnight, before shampooing.
After using tamanu oil for a few days, I am so thrilled to tell you about the newest oil for beauty!
When spring rolls around, I always clean up my beauty and makeup products. I like to use lighter skincare products such as oils instead of heavy moisturizing cream. In addition to a lighter face moisturizer and eye cream, I decided to add tamanu oil to my beauty regimen.
I started by using the tamanu oil on my face, neck and decollete. I only used a few drops for each area. I then used a drop or two for my hair and very lightly near my scalp. I just add a few drops in my palm, rub my hands together to warm the oil and then lightly comb through my hair. I don’t like using oils on my scalp as it makes my hair look greasy. If want a deep conditioning, I will use oil directly on my scalp and allow to sit for 30 minutes or more and then shower.
I have not changed anything about my beauty routine and I noticed a difference the next day. My hair was soft and bouncy. My hair felt like it had added volume and I have straight hair. Before trying tamanu oil, my hair would be straight and no volume or bounce. Now, my scalp feels clean. My hair looks healthier.
When I dispense too much oil, I will use it on areas on my skin that are dry, such as my feet, legs and elbows. The top is actually the perfect dispenser for this oil. It allows me to control how much I want to use. If I only want one drop, I can control that. The bottle is very travel friendly as it is small and the top will not leak, if securely closed.
