Spring is here and that means it’s time to dig those gardening supplies out and get to work. It takes a little bit of prep time to clear out the weeds and till winter-settled soil in preparation for planting your favorite fruits, vegetables, herbs, and flowers. My husband and I like to plant tomatoes, a variety of bell peppers, cucumbers (I use these in salads and for pickling), and strawberries (for shortcake desserts and jam, yum). Sometimes we try other stuff like green beans or yellow wax beans, cantaloupe, squash, or different varieties of hot peppers. Whatever tickles our fancy while perusing the local home and garden stores.

There are several necessities that are needed when gardening. Obviously, you need seeds or starter plants to put in your garden space. But, you also need the proper tools, clothing, and accessories to make your planting time as smooth and successful as possible. Items you should have on hand include: a hoe, shovel, trowel, a wide-brimmed hat to protect your skin from the hot sun, gardening gloves, a watering can, among other items as needed depending on what is being planted. The most important item, however, is one most people probably don’t give much thought to. Wearing comfortable, supportive shoes can make or break your gardening experience.

As I am gearing up to garden and looking for products that will make my experience a positive one, I am looking particularly at shoe options. This year, I have been giving some thought to purchasing a pair of sandals from Clarks® Shoes. I love the sandals pictured here because they are not only beautiful but they look like they’d keep my ffeetcool and be comfortable to wear.

Clarks® Shoes have been in business for 192 years! Wow, that’s a long time. What I find the most appealing about the company is the large variety of styles available for consumers to choose from. They offer 22,000 different styles like the Clarks® Desert Boot, launched in 1950. It’s pretty rare to find a shoe company who has styles that are popular enough to be manufactured for such a long period of time.

Clarks® has been studying the human foot anatomy for many years and incorporated innovations such as underfoot cushioning as well as a large choice of width sizes to benefit their customers during all activities in which they may engage. I’m impressed with a company that invests time and money into improving their product for the benefit of their customers.

Styles available from the company cover men, women and children. You can find sandals, shoes, flats, boots, and more as well as other accessories such as handbags and socks. They have products available for every occasion from everyday wear to special events. I’m not really a closet-full-of-shoes kind of girl, but I could definitely see myself buying quite a few styles available from Clarks®, for sure!

Admittedly, my husband does the heavy lifting when it comes to the garden. He clears the weeds and tills the soil so he needs good heavy-duty boots. I get involved when it’s time to head out to choose what plants we grow and then for actually installing them into the garden space. I tend to prefer to be barefooted or wear sandals for this activity. No matter what footwear we sport while gardening, it’s if the utmost importance that the shoes we wear be comfortable.

I’m really excited to start planning the layout of our garden space, choosing what to plant in it, deciding which style of Clarks® sandals to wear, and getting my hands dirty.

What are you planting in your garden this year and which must-have items will you be using to make the experience a comfortable and easy one?

You can find Clarks Shoes at Nordstrom, JC Penney, DSW and Macy’s.
