My wardrobe malfunction moment

job interview

I had my big job interview today.  I had intended on leaving an hour before my interview, however, about 10 minutes before we had to leave, my button fell off.  That was my wardrobe malfunction moment.

Last week, I was called to schedule an interview for a position I had applied for in mid-March.  It is for an office assistant/call center position with the County.  I was so excited that I immediately chose what to wear.  I ended up choosing two different outfits.

When my button came off, I was rattled and stressed out and tried to sew the button back on.  Just to preface, I do not know how to sew, but I have sewed buttons.  I do not claim to be an expert at sewing buttons.  In the end, I wore my secondary outfit, my backup!  I am so glad I had two suits ready for this.

While we only live approximately 15 to 20 minutes away from where the office is located, I wanted to leave early.  I would rather be early than late.  My interview was at 10:30 am.  I was told that the interview process would be two hours.  The first hour is tests and the second hour is set aside for interviews with at least 4 people.

When I arrived, I realized I was 27 minutes early!  I am glad I was early, rather than late.  There was one other person interviewing at the same time I was.  We were taken to separate areas for the testing portions.  I am not sure what position she was interviewing for either.

The testing part was pretty easy.  There was a 10 page written part and the second half was computer testing using Excel.  The interview was with 4 people.  One of them would be my direct supervisor/manager and the department manager.  I assume the other two were from Human Resources.

I was really looking forward to this interview opportunity because I had been applying for jobs with the County for over a year.  Last month, I applied for 3 different office assistant positions, so I wasn’t sure which one I was interviewing for until after I answered their interview questions.  After the interview, I thanked them for their time too.
