Japanese Konjac Sponge

When I was contacted by The Japanese Konjac Sponge, I was intrigued by the products. I had never heard of the konjac sponge. After reading about the product, I quickly accepted. I received samples of konjac sponges to review in exchange for my honest opinion.

What is it?

The Japanese Konjac Sponge is a 100% natural facial and body cleansing sponge made from vegetable fibers of Konjac (Konnyaku). The Konjac Sponge has been used in Japan first as a bath sponge for newborn babies for more than 100 years because of its soft texture. It eventually is used as a favorite bath sponge for adults in Japan. Recently, the Konjac Sponge is sold as an cleansing item intended for luxury Japanese cosmetic and the Konjac Sponge’s popularity has been on the rise as facial cleansing and bath sponge in China, South East Asia and Europe.

I received the 3 Japanese Konjac Sponge Bundle which contains Bamboo Charcoal Sponge, Cherry Blossom Konjac Sponge, and Green Tea Konjac Puff. I was also sent the White Konjac Sponge.

When I opened the package, I could not wait to try one! I read the box and thrilled that I can use the sponge on my son’s skin. He suffers from eczema and dry skin. I chose to use the White Konjac Sponge first. When I took it out of the wrapper, it was not as hard and rough as I thought. As the directions state, I had to soak the sponge for a few minutes in warm water.

For the first use, I used it along with my regular face cleanser in the shower. It was a nice exfoliation for my face. After the first use, I am now using it on my body as well. It is really gentle on my skin and leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth.

There are a few options with caring for the sponge between uses. For now, I just gently squeeze out excess water and have it in the shower. I can also put it in a container and keep it in the refrigerator. The important thing is to keep it dry when not in use.

I love that the Konjac Sponge is 100% natural, sustainable & bio-degradable. It is also non toxic and no harmful chemicals. My entire family can use the sponge!
