Indulge Your Skin And Invigorate Your Senses

Beauty Brite Disclosure

I’ve never been one to jump on the scrub band wagon, but when I heard about a natural coffee skin line, I just had to check these out! My skin is crazy sensitive and majority of the time scrubs just irritate my skin or completely break me out. I had high hopes when I did a little research on the Beverly the 5th coffee scrubs before testing them out.

Right when you open the bag, which has a handy zip lock zip (major bonus points) to keep the product nice and secure, you see what looks like coffee grounds. If you’re sensitive to scents, be warned, the coffee smell is strong! I say this as someone who HAS to have coffee every single morning. The scent did get a little off putting for me. I opened the package in my office and it smelt like coffee for the rest of the day.

I was able to test out two different scrubs: Island Coconut Coffee Scrub, and Peppermint Coffee Scrub. The coffee scent definitely overshadows the coconut scent which was disappointing since I love the smell of coconut, but with the peppermint you can still smell that. I absolutely love the smell of peppermint, and I think a lot of people will like this one as well. But the coffee is the dominant scent. With that in mind, as someone who is allergic to fragrance (perfume), the scent did not trigger an allergy attack or a migraine. In fact, within 20 to 30 minutes of using it, the scent was completely gone.

The scrub itself isn’t harsh to the touch nor was it harsh on the skin while I was applying it. I followed the simple instructions on how to use it. And per the instructions I did a small patch test just to make sure I wouldn’t have any problems. After using the scrub in the shower, I followed with my Dove sensitive skin shower gel. Between the two, my skin felt amazing! It was so soft, I was really surprised at how my skin felt. During the first couple uses my skin did get a little red, this happens whenever I use any kind of a scrub. It was gone within a few minutes.

The recommended use is 2-3 times per week, but if you’re skin is sensitive like mine, start off with two times per week and not close together. The usage will depend pretty much on what your skin can handle.
