I consider myself more than just a blogger. When I do tell people what I do, I often wonder what they picture I do. Not only am I a blogger, but I am also a mom, wife, homemaker and business owner. With my blog, I have been able to pay the majority of our bills.
I get up early just so I can have some quiet time to put on my makeup. Then I wake up our son and get him ready for school and on the bus. I then start my morning with coffee and check my email, social media and take a look at my daily “to do” list.
If you had asked me 5 years ago, I would have explained that I was looking for a new hobby. I wanted a place to share homemade/diy beauty recipes. I started writing about products I had purchased myself. I wanted to share awesome products that I found. My son suffers from eczema and I wanted something safe and natural to use on his skin. I found an amazing company and tried products for myself and my son. I had to share their products.
I don’t remember how it happened; perhaps I was looking for other reviews of the products I was using. I stumbled upon other bloggers who were doing product reviews. They also had giveaways.
My blog quickly turned into more reviews, lifestyle posts and eventually giveaways. When I started my blog, I was bored and needed an outlet. I wanted a voice. I was a stay at home mom and my husband was practically ignoring my son and me.
When I started my blog, I did not really have any particular direction. I was focusing on fun beauty recipes to try.
I remember doing several other online opportunities by earning money and gift cards. I earned enough Amazon gift cards to purchase items such as workout tanks, workout DVDs and an anti-aging cream from a popular brand that I wanted to try.
I just kept writing and reviewing products. I found a blog post explaining how to write a pitch letter and a few PR contacts to email. I emailed every one of them. Eventually, I was added to mailing lists.
These days, I receive pitches on a regular basis. It has gotten to the point where I receive more than I can handle. I now have a few writers on my team that help review products.
My blog has transformed from a hobby to my full time business and I treat it as such. My blog helps support my family.
I am so thankful for my blog. I honestly had no idea it would grow as much as it has. I am always trying to improve and willing to try new things.
