When our son is home, the television is usually on the Disney Junior channel. I prefer watching in the mornings during the week and most of the morning into early afternoons when the Disney cartoons are on. My son likes cartoons, so I prefer watching then. Usually the afternoons and beyond, are the shows for older kids. When my son is watching his cartoons, it gives me the uninterrupted time to write!
I hear all the music from his cartoons and I do remember hearing the Goldie & Bear music. However, I had no idea the background story regarding the characters.
“Goldie & Bear” is a fairytale-inspired Disney Junior animated series that premiered in September 2015. The series follows the adventures of Goldie and her new found best friend Bear following the renowned porridge incident of “Goldilocks and The Three Bears.” Well-known characters from fairy tales, folk tales and nursery rhymes can be seen in the series, including Humpty Dumpty, Little Red Riding Hood, the Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf, who is often referred to simply as “Big Bad.” Goldie and Bear seek out opportunities for fun with their friends, having adventures that often feature a touch of magic.
I had no idea Goldie & Bear were based on characters from Goldilocks and The Three Bears! I love how imaginative and creative Disney is with extending characters into another series.

My son is more interested in playing with our DVD collection than watching the movies. I found myself watching Goldie & Bear: Best Fairytale Friends while he was in school so I could focus on the cartoons! Yes, I am a mom who loves watching cartoons! There are always sweet and adorable lessons to be learned and they remind me on how to be a good friend, wife and mom!
It never hurts to be nice, friendly and helpful to anyone and everyone. One of the lessons that really made an impact was when Goldie was planning Bear’s birthday party. She forgot to get Bear a present. When Bear saw Goldie outside of his party, he asked her why she wasn’t celebrating. She felt so bad that she forgot her best friend. Bear didn’t care, he just wanted Goldie to have fun! Goldie learned that it doesn’t matter what you give to others, your presence is more important than presents.
Do you ever catch yourself watching cartoons while your kids are away?
