Give Your Spring Cleaning a Natural Refresh

Give Your Spring Cleaning a Natural Refresh

Beauty Brite Disclosure

Whether we like it or not, the ritual of spring cleaning has been around for centuries. I’ll be the first to admit, whenever I hear the term “spring cleaning”, I roll my eyes. I mean we clean our homes all the time, why do we need a huge seasonally related overhaul. I especially dread the overpowering aroma of chemical cleaning products. There must be a better way, which is why I’m giving my spring cleaning a natural refresh.

Did you know that the practice of spring cleaning may have originated with Judaism and the holiday of Passover?  As part of the spring time holiday, you must rid your home of chametz, or bread, which means a thorough cleaning of every nook and cranny. Other theories also suggest spring cleaning may have started in China or Iran, where they celebrate the New Year in spring. As part of their celebrations, they clean or give their homes a complete refresh.

No matter what the reason is, spring cleaning should never be about chemical cleaning products. They aren’t good for the environment or our bodies. This is precisely why I decided to give the 100% vegan, cruelty-free products from Dirty Girl Farm a go this year. This Michigan-based brand was kind enough to send me their Lavender Dryer Bags, Lavender Body and Linen Spray, Tub Scrub, Everything Cleanser, and Yoga Mat Spray.

Dirty Girl Farm Lavender Dryer Bags

The first product I took for a spin, literally, was their Lavender Dryer Bags. These adorable little pouches not only smell amazing, but also help keep my clothes free of static cling. You can use each pouch up to 10 times. Then, Dirty Girl Farms recommends cutting them open, sprinkling them on your carpet and vacuuming them up. I love this idea for giving carpets a fresh clean scent.

Dirty Girl Farm Tub Scrub

Next up is the Tub Scrub. Formulated with baking soda, sea salt, and lavender and tangerine essential oils, the Tub Scrub is ideal for removing dirt and grim. It also has great anti-bacterial properties to ensure your tub or sink are free from germs. I used this scrub after giving my dog a bath. The result was a fresh, clean and shiny tub free of dog hair and wet dog smell.

Dirty Girl Farm Yoga Mat Cleansing Spray

I also tested out and loved the Yoga Mat Cleansing Spray. I must admit, I’ve never given much thought to cleaning the old yoga mat.  Probably because the thought of using a typical chemical cleaner on the mat is so unappealing. After using the natural antibacterial, antifungal spray, I’m hooked. My mat smells so much fresher, thanks to a combination of lavender, lemongrass, patchouli, and rosemary essential oils.

Dirty Girl Farm Everything Cleanser

One of my biggest pet peeves is using a cleanser that is so overpowering it makes me cough. I often wonder what I’m breathing into my lungs. With the Dirty Girl Farm Everything Cleanser, I no longer have to worry about what I’m spraying into the environment or my lungs, or getting on my skin. Not only does this cleanser have a nice light citrus scent, but it also helps naturally disinfect every surface of my home. You can even use it to clean the mirror. It doesn’t leave any smudges or streaks. Who doesn’t love a multipurpose product? I know I do.

Dirty Gril Farm Lavender Body and Linen Spray

The last product I received for review was the Lavender Body and Linen Spray. I’ve used all-natural linen and body sprays before and am a huge fan. Again, I like multi-tasking products, especially when they are vegan and cruelty-free. The soothing scent of lavender helps to refresh my linens and clothing. I’ve also used it as a body spray and really enjoyed it that way as well. I haven’t tested it out to see if can help me fall asleep faster yet. However, considering how much trouble I have falling asleep, I think it might be a wise idea. It is spring cleaning season, and I need all the rest I can get to get the job done.

I’m a huge fan of natural products and I would love to get these! Really perfect for cleaning stuff.

  6. I love trying out and using natural cleaning products. With a house full of kids, I don’t like chemicals or highly scented cleaners either. We don’t even use scented laundry detergent… I usually stick to vinegar and baking soda for lots of my cleaning needs, but with the addition of scented oils? That would be a game changer because no one like she the scent of vinegar!

  7. Love natural cleaning products – there’s not that many around where I live so I’ve started making my own! These look fabulous and I love the packaging! x

Oh I love that these are natural cleaning products! I too hate that strong chemical smell of most cleaning products 😛 I’m really intrigued by the yoga mat cleansing spray! I’ve never really thought about cleaning my yoga mat before nor do I think I’ve ever seen a spray specifically for cleaning it so I’m definitely curious to give this a try!

  11. I love natural products, especially when it comes to cleaning. It’s really nice to get away from all of the chemicals that most products have. I’ve never tried this one before, but it sounds like a good brand.

  12. I usually start Spring cleaning right after Christmas. I’m not sure why, maybe it’s that I’m just ready to purge lol Can I say that I love the branding of this product?!? The name, the fact that they are all natural…it’s just a win/win all the way around. Can’t wait to give them a try!

  13. I am lavender obsessed so the fact they make a lavender scent has me sold!!! Looks like I have to give Dirty Girl a try

What a great set of products! I particularly like the idea of opening the dryer’s bags and sprinkle on the carpets. That alone would make me feel that the house has been spring cleaned. There’s nothing worse than smelly carpets

  18. I have never heard of this brand before! It looks like a great one though. I am always looking for natural alternatives.

  19. My favorite part of this is the essential oils that are used in each product! I love using essential oils to clean. They add such a natural but fresh scent — definitely screams spring clean! I also love that the dryer bags are dual purpose so nothing goes to waste, and that’s after being able to use them a few times in the dryer. I’m going to have to try these!

  20. I’d never before heard of this brand until now and it seems like they’re pretty good. I must say I love their packaging though
