I have a fondness for apples. They’re one of my favorite snack foods. I use them in jams and jellies and as fun, unexpected ingredients in recipes. And candles? Don’t even get me started on that subject. I’m a bona fide candle freak! I love tropical, forest and fruit scents alike — and apple scented candles are right up there near the top of my wish list all the time.
I have apple-scented lotions that I love to use to help with my dry skin, apple-scented body washes, and have purchased shampoo and conditioners that feature this sweet fruit scent, as well. But, these beauty staples aren’t the only ones that make excellent use of apple extracts. Read on to learn about a few new apple-scented beauty finds I’ve discovered!
Anti-aging beauty products are something that unfortunately I have had to start thinking about in recent years. Everyone wants to age well and there are about a million products on the market today that can help you try to do that. G.M. Collin® Vital C 10% + Peptides Serum is formulated with powerful antioxidants and anti-aging ingredients to act sort of like a topical vaccine (no needles, yay!). And it’s good for all skin types, too.
What it does:
- Protects the skin against the environmental stressors by hydrating
- Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
- Visibly revitalizes the skin and improves complexion uniformity for a radiant and natural glow
- Energizes the skin and visibly promotes elasticity —–G. M. Collin® website
Those are lofty goals for a beauty product. It may sound complicated but it’s really simple to use. All you have to do is put a bit of this serum in your palm and use your fingertips to apply the serum to your face and neck. The serum glides on very easily and absorbs quickly, it’s a very quick process. All the better for me because I hate spending a lot of time on my morning personal care routine. I’m way too busy and need to get my kids up to do their morning chores and get ready for school to have to be shackled to a lengthy, multi-step process.
I liked that it has a light apple scent since it’s used on the face and neck, close to my nose. It is not overpowering, at all. I think my skin is already benefiting from using it, though I think it may take some time to see more visible results. My skin just feels better and looks brighter and less dry. And I swear the fine lines around my eyes (beginning crow’s feet) look less visible!
I’ve tried many facial cleansers before. While some are great, others seem to just dry my skin even more than it already is. Not only does HydroPeptide® Cleansing Gel not dry my skin further, it feels so good while working it into those delicate skin layers. Not only that but it is formulated with peptides to increase skin elasticity and defy the natural aging that occurs as we grow older and apple extract (with its natural antioxidant properties) to protect skin from further free radical damage.
– 4 Peptides including Triple Action Peptide, Foaming Peptide and Preservative Peptides for superior anti-aging results.
– 5% Lactic Acid + Sebacic acid deliver glowing, clearer skin.
– Witch hazel and geranium additionally tone and balance the skin.
– Very gentle cleansing agents with extra soothing benefits from Chamomile, Allantoin and Cucumber. —– HydroPeptide website
Another thing I like about this cleansing gel is that it’s free of gluten, artificial fragrance, parabens, phenoxyethanol, PEG’s, phthalate, and sulfates. Who needs that stuff??
Using this cleanser in conjunction with the G.M. Collin® Vital C 10% + Peptides Serum makes me feel like I’m doing something very healthy for my skin without taking up too much time in the morning. I don’t even have to wet my face before using it since the directions state to apply a small amount to dry skin, massage in for 30 to 60 seconds, rinse and pat dry. It’s very gentle to my skin and makes me feel clean, refreshed and ready to tackle my day.
I had not used any sort of facial primer product prior to trying jane iredale Smooth Affair® Facial Primer & Brightener, though I have wanted to for a long time. I’ve heard that this type of product can help give a smoother palette when applying makeup and help it last longer, too. I don’t use foundation, normally, since I’ve been blessed with pretty clear skin. But, damage from sunburns on my cheeks has started to become visible within the last year or so. I’ve also begun to notice (when I get really close to the mirror) that I can actually see some of my skin pores pretty easily, mostly in the T-zone.
I’ve started using some BB cream and a bit of concealer to even the slight discoloration from sun damage, but sometimes (especially when my skin is really dry) these products can go on less than smooth and be a bit difficult to blend in at times. I have noticed that is no longer an issue when I apply a bit of this primer beforehand. Now it’s a complete breeze to whip these products onto my skin and blend them in so that I can look in the mirror and find the face that I remember staring back at me in younger days, clear and blemish-free. It’s fighting off those pores that are trying hard to become noticeable, too.
jane iredale is certified cruelty-free by PETA as well as by the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics’ (CCIC) Leaping Bunny Program, the leading internationally respected animal protection group for cruelty-free certification. I’m a huge animal-lover, so this is an important consideration for me.
My teenage daughter has thick hair like me. Unlike me, however, she suffers terribly from snarled, tangled hair. She will often avoid brushing her hair because of this, even though I tell her if she’d brush it more it wouldn’t have a chance to get so tangled.
Keeping a detangling product in the house is an absolute must so that she has no excuse! We’ve tried a few, and most of them work fine. I personally like this Green Apple Fruit Medley Detangling KIDS Leave-In Conditioner from The Mane Choice because the apple scent is light and helps to lift my mood when I smell it. I’m not sure if she cares one way or the other about how it smells, but I love it! It’s good for all hair types and can be left in or rinsed out of the hair, as you desire.
- Gentle enough for daily use
- Promotes growth and retention
- Leaves hair feeling revitalized and refreshed
- Instantly hydrates and moisturizes
- Helps to remove knots & tangles
- Minimize damage and breakage —– The Mane Choice website
The best testament to any kids’ product is whether they will actually use it or not. She does use it, so that makes it a winner in my book.
I’ve saved the best for last. This Juice Beauty Green Apple Age Defy Moisturizer is my most favorite apple extract product of this group. I swear it is absolute decadence wrapped up in this beautifully designed little jar. I’m terrible at remembering to moisturize, but I look forward to using this so it’s easier to remember.
What it is:
- Formulated with age-defying peptides, DMAE, nutrient-rich essential fatty acids
- Combined with vitamin antioxidants & organic apple, lemon & raw cane sugar
- Nourishes skin & fights against free radical damage
- Helps reduces fine lines & wrinkles
- Leaves skin smooth, firm & radiant
- Apply over face, neck morning & night —– Fragrance website
You know what it’s like when you get your hair washed at a salon? I don’t know what kind of magical products they use, but my hair always feels so soft and luxurious when I leave that place. It’s definitely a morale booster because I feel like my hair just looks so great! This moisturizer makes me feel exactly the same way, except about my skin.
Oh, and it’s certified organic. So, I guess that’s good, too. But I’d use it even if it wasn’t. It’s that good. (shh..don’t tell anyone)
What’s your favorite way to work apple-scented products into your everyday routine? Which one of these would you most like to try?
