I know we have all been there; kids are like tiny ticking time bombs just waiting to explode. Children are also nasty little creatures who all love to share their germs and sickness with everyone. I may have the answer to your problems. Have you ever tried Essential Oils on your children? I’ll Show you how to combat everything from tantrums to seasonal sniffles.
I have three children ages from five to one, so tantrums are pretty much a fact of life at this point. I’ve recently started using Essential oils to help defuse those testy situations.
I’d like to start off and disclose that I am not a medical professional, I cannot help diagnose or treat any medical conditions. These are things I’ve simply found that works for us and hope they help you too.
I personally use Young Living brand oils.
What is an Essential oil? Extracted through careful steam distillation, resin tapping, and cold pressing, the purest essential oils are far more powerful than the botanicals from which they come.
How do Essential Oils work? You can access the power of essential oils many ways, but the most common practices include aromatic diffusion, topical application, and dietary consumption. Make sure to always consult a medical professional if you have any questions or concerns.
When you sign up with Young Living, you will find a variety of blends in your starter kit! However, you do not need to join Young Living to experience essential oils. We hope to educate you on alternatives to using with your children.
So let’s get started! These recipes are so easy to make and take no time at all. Perfect for busy parents, am I right?
When using essential oils, I have found that mixing in a spray bottle (use glass bottles) with water and Lavender and spraying on blankets, beds, and favorite stuffed animals help to calm your sweet babies down.

We have found that there is so much more peace in our house since we have started using essential oils. The fact that they are all-natural makes me feel so much better because these days everything has so many chemicals in them and we are really trying to draw back from them. I want what’s best for my child as does any parent and we have found that these work for us.
What about when you are out and about, do you carry disinfectant wipes or sprays? You can make your own spray!
DIY Natural Disinfectant Spray Recipe
- Glass spray bottle – always use glass so that you are not damaging the oil with plastic chemicals. If you want to keep a bottle with you when you are out and about, you can use this one.
- 1 tsp of witch hazel
- 10-15 drops of Thieves Essential Oil (a great alternative is the Plant Therapy Germ Fighter or Bandit Synergy Blend)
1-2 drops Lemon Essential Oil
1-2 drops Tea Tree Oil
Take one of your spray bottles and add 5-10 drops of Thieves Oil (or alternative). Next, add your optional essential oils. Add 1 tsp. of witch hazel. Lastly, add water into the bottle until full.
And now you are ready to roll!
