Eight years ago today my husband and I had our baby boy! I remember that morning very clearly. After they hooked me up to the IV and started pumping medicine into me, it is all a blur.
My water broke around 3:30am but I did not know it at the time. I just remember getting up to go to the restroom and I kept leaking. I was half asleep and ended up using a pad just so I could go back to bed. I woke up again around 7:30am and I was still leaking after using the restroom. I told my husband and we agreed to go to the hospital. I believe I called my doctor and they suggested I go to the hospital.
I quickly called my mom to let her know, she did not seem to believe I was in labor. My husband was also skeptical that I was in labor.
Before leaving, I told him I wanted to take a shower. The whole time, he was sure I was not in labor.
The drive to the hospital was calm and slow one because it had snowed a few days before and there was still snow on the ground. It was nothing like the movies where I was in pain, breathing through my contractions and my husband running the red lights just to get to the hospital. I think that is why my husband did not believe I was in labor! Ha!
We arrived at the hospital around 8:15am or so and brought into our room at 8:20am. I was thrilled to have my own room! My original plan was to go without drugs but after several hours of feeling the contractions, I finally caved and asked for the epidural.
Our son was born at 10:19pm.
Happy Birthday, little man! Your daddy and I still cannot believe you are eight years old!
