“Mom, I’m Bored” can be the most over said sentence during any school break. I often find myself  stocking up on new crafts and small toy sets just to limit that sentences usage. Do not get me wrong I truly believe it is “ok” to have a “bored” kid on your hands because it encourages them to use their imagination. Going to see Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker has been a long time tradition for my family. I’m not sure where it originated, but I have lots of vivid memories of going to see the ballet as a young girl. This tradition carried over to adulthood; my house is decorated with lots of beautiful Nutcracker ornaments and decor. I also have a light-up Nutcracker on my front porch from my childhood. Now, that adoration has transferred to my son, who also loves Nutcrackers. He loves to help pick one out for our home each Christmas.
