The New York Fashion Week was a few weeks ago. While I would never be able to afford the clothing featured, I love learning new makeup looks to try. I was asked to try the Blue Smoke look that was seen around NYC so of course, I jumped at the opportunity. Thankfully, Mary Kay Celeb Makeup Artist Luis Casco was on the scene at Lincoln Center scoping out the hottest beauty trends and created the Blue Smoke look. I was sent Mary Kay products to review in exchange for my honest opinion.
About the look:
The Blue Smoke look is inspired by sapphire smoky eyes seen around NYC, Luis Casco created a soft, smoky doe-eyed look called Blue Smoke that’s perfect for special daytime events, but can be easily adapted for night.
I received the following products to try: Mary Kay Midnight Jewels Eye Color Palette Sapphire Noir, Midnight Jewels Semi-Matte Lipstick Pink Moonstone, Makeup Finishing Spray, Eyelash Curler and Eye Primer.
I followed the instructions and I am very impressed that they were easy to follow and understand. I followed each step and I am very impressed with how my Blue Smoke look turned out. I used the eye primer first. I normally do not use eye primer, so I am so thrilled to have primer now. The eye primer went on smooth and evened out my eyelid color and created a perfect canvas for my eye shadow.
Next, I used the eye shadow. I love the Sapphire Noir eye color palette! It came with a few colors that I can use to create other looks. It is much different from what I am used to using. Normally, I use mineral makeup and eye shadows come in separate colors and it is up to me to match them together. Palettes make creating looks so much easier. The eye shadow goes on really smooth and blends really easily. Again, I am not used to such ease of using shadow. My mineral eye shadow does not seem to go on dark enough or it seems I have to use several coats of shadow. Using the Mary Kay eye shadow, I am able to blend the colors and the look is perfect for work.
The eyelash curler is compact and fits in my makeup box. It is easy to use and makes curling my lashes super easy.
I love the Midnight Jewels Semi-Matte Lipstick Pink Moonstone at first application. The color is perfect for my skin tone. I don’t like bright or bold colors on my lips. I want my lips to look natural with a little color.
I used the Makeup Finishing Spray last. I have used this product before, so I am so excited to have this on hand again. The finishing spray sets my look and keeps it looking fresh all day.
