It’s only 50 days till the official start of college football season. I’m hoping this year will be a good one for my team, the Florida Gators. Something tells me I’ll probably be doing a lot of yelling at the TV, which isn’t anything new. While I still have over a month to go, I’m already adding style to my game day & beyond with Jane Hudson. After all, a girl’s got to look good while she is cheering/yelling for her team.
If you’re not familiar with Jane Hudson, that might be because it’s a relatively new brand. Started in May 2016 by self-taught designer and Gator fan, Kristin Celano, the brand seeks, “to bring fashion to fandom and an elevated versatility to the everyday.”
Of course, when I heard the line had a connection to UofF, and donated a portion of their sales to the Jordan Giving Hope Foundation, I had to try it out. As someone trying to be a more conscious consumer, I appreciate brands who give back, especially to families and children in need.
After perusing the Jane Hudson collection, I decided on the Madison top and a set of the Gator cocktail napkins. The brand was kind enough to send me the top in a Black and White and the “Chomp Chomp” napkins. Every gator girl needs a little Chomp Chomp action in her life.
Before I share my thoughts on Madison top, as well as how I style it, I need to gush over the napkins. They are truly stunning. Made from a linen blend with a classic hemstitch, this set of 4 napkins will make game day, or any drink for that matter, feel fancy. They’re also a great gift for the Gator fan in your life. If you’re not a Gator fan (how dare you), Jane Hudson does carry a selection of other equally as gorgeous cocktail napkins for your drinking pleasure.
Now, let’s turn our attention to the Madison top. Made from a viscose-spandex blend, this sleeveless top features a looser fit and a hidden open back. Available in XS-XL, the Madison comes in four color options, Royal Blue & White, Navy & White, Black & White and Maroon & White. Although Gator colors are orange and blue, I choose the Black & White because I have way too much blue in my closet. This is the problem when it’s your favorite color.
I really love how well made this shirt feels. The high-quality fabric helps it keep its shape and allows the top to skim the body to perfection. I also like the hidden open back, which adds some flare to the top. It does run a bit larger, something I failed to notice during my selection process. I ordered the large when I really should have opted for the medium. I’m a 36DD, so depending on the make of the shirt sometimes I wear a large, sometimes a medium, and occasionally a small.
The Madison can be worn with so many different looks. I’m not a shorts girl, but it would pair nicely with white shorts, black shorts, or even denim shorts. You could also wear it with a denim skirt. I have it styled two ways. The first is more of a daytime look. I paired the top with my favorite Chinese Laundry sandals, capris, a statement watch, and some bohemian-inspired, silver earrings. For nighttime or indoor events, I would pair it with jeans. For a pop of color, I added a pair of Fornarina wooden platforms, some statement earrings, and a silver cuff.
So, while I wait for the Gators to take the field on Sept 2, I’ll be enjoying my Jane Hudson top and cocktail napkins. Here’s hoping for a better season than last year, and for some more stylish fashions from Jane Hudson.
